Brendan Rodgers is set to be presented to the media at Parkhead on Friday at his official unveiling as the new Celtic boss.

The Irishman has penned a three-year contract to return to the east end of Glasgow, succeeding Ange Postecoglou. The Treble winners revealed the 50-year-old would conduct a press conference at Celtic Park “later this week” as they announced him as manager. And Record Sport can now reveal that will take place on Friday.

Rodgers has been enjoying some down time at the family holiday home in Majorca but he will be back enjoying the familiar surroundings of his old stomping ground when he walks back through the front doors at Parkhead for the first time as manager since his shock departure four years ago. And the manner of him leaving the Hoops for Leicester City in February 2019 is sure to feature heavily on the agenda when he takes his place in the media room as some supporters still haven’t forgiven him for walking out for the Foxes mid-season.

Rodgers will attempt to explain that decision as he looks to win back any fans who were against his return. The Irishman will also discuss his plans to progress the club in Europe as they go straight into the Champions League group stage thanks to winning their second successive Scottish Premiership title

A crowd of around 15,000 turned out at Parkhead when Rodgers was appointed Celtic boss first time around. He was a box office name having taken Liverpool to within a whisker of the English Premier League. But the fact the relationship between Rodgers and the fans ended on a sour note means similar numbers may not descend on the east end of Glasgow this time.

But all will become clearer on Friday both in terms of the reception from the supporters as well as Rodgers outlining his vision for the club in his second coming.

Away n take a Daily Mail subscription out with that cave man patter. Honest tf.

No short memory from me: I was one of the ones who never hated him for what he did. Yes, he could’ve left in a way that was much more respectful to the players and fans, but ultimately he was being dicked around by Lawwell, and a good opportunity presented itself. Should’ve then left properly rather than doing a sudden flit, but that’s the extent of his wrongdoing, imo, and I ‘forgave’ as you melodramatically put it, a long time ago.

I'm going to get behind him because he is now our manager but Celtic Park will never again be his home

Well, in terms of uniting the support at the start of his stint, it's clearly Ange 1 - 0 Brendan. :mf_argue:

Looks like making a better fist of Europe is the aim? Hope so. Winning CL games at Celtic Park is something I miss hugely

Delighted would be an understatement. Like many others was unhappy at him leaving last time but there was an over reaction. Hardly left us in a shambles, not once did I think we would lose the league that season, any manager would’ve seen us through.

After missing on a a few of his targets and signing players he didn’t want it went a bit stale. I don’t think that will happen this time or he would never have taken it again. The fact he has means he’s been told he will be backed to the hilt which should make us all very excited.

    I didn't want him.

Now I wish him nothing but success.

Back him off and on the pitch.

If he's anywhere near as good as the last manager from Leicester we had, we're on to a winner.

The thing is i didn't want Rodgers back because i thought there was no chance he would ever return, but when it became clear that he was interested in returning for me it was a no brainer.

I know not everyone will feel the same, but i think over time he will be accepted by the vast majority, obviously success on the park will go a long way to help the healing process.
