If he is staying they must have promised him a go as manager after Rodgers.

If they were going to offer the manager job, surely there would be no better time than now. Successful team he's had a key role in developing, plus the best candidate to provide a sense of continuity. I'm not saying he should get the job, but if it's not now then I'm not sure I see it ever happening. I don't know how much more he's going to learn by working under a guy he's already worked under for years.

I dunno what's changed since last time ge had the opportunity, the football on show was * chronic. Let him go to London with Ange and we'll take Davis.

Importantly for Rodgers, he will have coaching stalwart John Kennedy by his side after persuading the highly regarded 39-year-old, also a close friend, to turn his back on any lingering hope of being reunited with Postecoglou at Spurs.

We disclosed the sudden change of heart by Kennedy to extend his near 30-years with the Parkhead club as boy and man, a remarkable association which has seen him fill every role at his beloved club.

The Scot - former first team star, scout, development coach, first team coach, assistant manager, interim manager - will be Rodgers' No2.

Seven years ago Kennedy was third in line, behind Chris Davies. But Davies, ironically, is now bound for North London to work with Postecoglou.

Now, however, he will play an even more critical role for Rodgers as he looks to repeat his previous two and a half year stint which produced two straight Trebles, including a sensational Invincible campaign.

Might be wrong here but at no time did Jk ever say he wanted to leave, regardless of whether Ange wanted him or not.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was Spurs going against Ange tbh.

Glad he's staying tbh, can tell from all previous managers interviews that he does a lot of work in running the actual football side of things and trainings.

Ange clearly valued the work he puts in and wanted him, as does Brendan.

Good to keep both him and Strachan, allows us some continuity.

I suspect this will be his last stint as assistant manager for us. He'll either leave when Brendan leaves or become our next manager.

Either way, delighted he's still here.

If Rodgers stays for the full 3 years, has continued success, I probably wouldn't be against Kennedy getting the full time job. Rodgers will probably move on eventually, we all know he will.

I'm not actually sure I buy into the Ange wanting to take him story. It could be true but he doesn't normally (ever?) take backroom staff with him to new jobs so it would have been a surprise to me if he had decided to now. Still it should be good for our continuity and the players that he's remaining here anyway.

He doesn't, but he's also mentioned Kennedy specifically in a lot of interviews about the work he does, so it wouldn't surprise me if he shocked Ange.

Also, I think the majority of the coaching staff left after Stellini. Conte was sacked, then his assistant and the coaches basically all got a promotion. When Stellini left, most went with him and Mason kinda threw together a team from the back benches.

Ange would have needed some coaching staff regardless.

Continuity here is well needed. The day to day with this squad has mostly been run by Kennedy and GS with the overview and drive of Ange.

Having them still here keeps the team running smoothly.
