I feel a bit meh about Brendan Rodgers coming back.

I don't know if it's because he's already been here and there isn't as much of an unknown with what sort of way will he set up etc. Potentially it's the way he left us, I don't know.

I think he's a good manager and it probably is a very good appointment, I think our board probably don't give a * about doing anything in Europe, as long as we qualify for the group stage.

I suppose the board's logic is, hire a guy who will win the league and therefore qualify for the 40 odd million quid and then if we get pumped 5-0 every game once we're in the group stage then so be it.

I think a manager like Knutsen would be more successful in Europe than Rodgers, but I can understand the board thinking Rodgers is a safer bet to win on a domestic front.

This part in bold pretty much sums up how I feel too. And like you, I'm not really sure why I feel that way.

So do you not think he improved Mcgregor, Forrest, Edouard, Dembele, Christie, Armstrong, Tierney, even Boyata and the likes as footballers? Resurrected Sinclair from the deid. Don't think he improved the side he inherited? I think that's a bit mental to say. We tailed off but there's several factors leading into that.

That Liverpool side should have been nowhere near winning the prem anyway. Its insanely harsh to use that as a stick to beat him with :giggle1:

Leicester he got back to back 5th places and challenging for UCL, won fhe FA Cup. Yes they fell away but a similar story to here in the sense that he didn't get backed with targets he asked for specifically by their board.

You'd honestly think it was John Barnes we were re-hiring here.

I get if people don't like him after what happened 4 years ago but christ. He's nowhere near as bad as people are making out...we wouldn't have a chance of getting him were it not for his celtic connection, regardless of how strong we may believe that to be.

    Callum McGregor on Rodgers

We had three great years under Brendan – winning three Trebles. To have that much success at a club and for it to be overlooked, just in the heat of the emotion, would be a shame. Hopefully, one day they can all come back together and celebrate the success.

“Emotions run high in football but everyone has been a part of this and, hopefully, that can be appreciated over time.”McGregor himself blossomed under Rodgers to become an integral member of the side. He remains indebted to the manager. “Brendan’s influence in this nine-in-a-row run shouldn’t be forgotten,” he said. “He totally transformed the club. He took it to a different level when he came in with his exceptional standards. You couldn’t drop below it for even one session. It was always an opportunity to get better.
We progressed as a team and individually and his influence can still be seen on the club as a whole. In terms of mentality, we have now won 11 major trophies in a row and that has never been done before. That says everything about the psychological side of things that was drilled into us in 2016

If our captain has this much praise for him it’s crazy to think others don’t.

Glorious times! An unashamed, unrepentant Celtic Da, but these really are the best of times.

I'm really looking forward to next season matey, with some really clever signings this could be a classic year.

I don't buy into the hun malarkey and tomfoolery at all, a few top level signings and we'll be fine.

Think the delay is probably due to the PR op that's probably going on behind the scenes.

The club would be absolutely tone deaf to try to organise a "heroes welcome" at CP.

Probably writing out his script as we speak.

Think we're looking at a basic announcement, followed by an official interview , alongside Callum (to lube up his reentry with the fans) , somewhere like Lennoxtown, that gives the impression he's "getting down to business".

Q's geared towards teeing up "I always said I would come back" responses, with Cal waxing lyrical about what a coup it is.

    All that * takes time.

Plus it probably takes a while to pack all his bronzer and tooth whiteners.

According to a lad in marketing and advertising, it makes more sense to announce it on the Monday as it'll drive much higher clicks/engagement. Leak it to the press on Friday and get a lot of the press over the weekend, then announce it on Monday when the story will dominate.

Delay could also be the international window. Celtic want the headlines, not England beating Malta. Could possibly be dragged out another week.
Probably has phone calls with players in the meantime and plans some transfers, although I imagine a fair few are already planned.

Best man for the job - he's a Celtic fan first & foremost, his record in his first stint here was magnificent and he comes back with a great record at Leicester City, winning FA Cup and taking the club far in Champions League and Europa League - that's the kind of pedigree we want and need to take the club forward.
Brendan would be like the 'Return of the Prodigal Son' and we should all get behind the Board on this
