Pretty big for the continuity and moving forward here by the way..

Ange deffo wanted him but it looks like we've kept our man and they've had to go for Davies..

With Chris Davies going to Spurs, I'd be very surprised if JK didnt stay now.

John Kennedy is set to remain at Celtic and reunite with Brendan Rodgers.

The Parkhead assistant manager is wanted by Ange Postecoglou to join him at Tottenham. But, in a dramatic twist, Kennedy looks ready to stay at Parkhead with the Aussie now poised to appoint Rodgers’ old No.2 Chris Davies to his staff in London. The Celtic defender has been a stalwart at the club and part of the first-team coaching scene for almost a decade since first working alongside Ronny Deila.

Kennedy operated closely with Rodgers and Davies during their stint in Glasgow from 2016 when the trio secured seven trophies out of seven and competed in the group stage of the Champions League before the manager’s shock departure to Leicester City just over four years ago. The 39-year-old assumed the assistant role under Neil Lennon and took outright caretaker charge of the team when the former skipper left his second spell as gaffer in February 2021

Kennedy then formed the key component of Postecoglou’s backroom team and Aussie’s total faith led to a concrete interest in taking him to North London. However, with Rodgers now set to return to the top job at Celtic, Kennedy now looks set to be a major part of his team.

And sources south of the border insist Davies, who had interest from Swansea City in their vacant manager’s post, could now link-up with Postecoglou in the English Premier League. Rodgers is set to finally agree a bumper contract in the coming days to return to the club as manager.

He will put pen to paper on a huge deal that will make him the highest paid boss in the club’s history. Record Sport revealed earlier this week how club owner Dermot Desmond made a personal intervention by urging Rodgers to U-turn on plans to take a full year out of the game. The plea from the Irishman billionaire appears to have done the trick and both parties are busy ironing out the dea

If this is true, and it's been Kennedy's decision to stay at Celtic rather than head south to join postecogjew, then he deserves some credit in the bank and people to get aff his back for a bit...

If he goes he's a rat
If he stays and it goes * up he shouldn't have been kept as he wanted out
If he stays and it goes well he wont get a mention.

I actually feel a bit sorry for the guy he gets slated when we go through patch but never really mentioned any other time I'm guilty of it myself

No if Celtic have played hardball - they're under no obligation to just let folk walk freely out the door. And there's also the possibility that Kennedy has decided to say "naw thanks"...

    Makes it so much easier..

The players like and respect Kennedy. He's been a massive part of our success and day to day. He's worked under the incoming manager with great success....who also tried to take him away. That also helps him being a familiar face amongst what's been a lot of change since the last time..

I don't think people realise just how important this is..

And not forgetting Lennon stated he was gonna be leaning heavily on Kennedy when he came back in as interim manager.

He’s been more loyal to Celtic than anyone over the last 10 or so years.

But some people will find a way to have a go at John

I think more people are coming round to appreciating the job that Jk has done over the years, myself included.

Fair * to the guy, he’s shown incredible loyalty to the club over a lot of years now. Gets a hard time by many but that’s 2 very good managers been desperate to take him with them/keep him on board so he’s clearly got something about him.

He’s obviously doing what he’s doing anyway

Some of the best managers actually end up being the best assistants

    So he’s not going?

Why do the board even bother creating this pantomime every time a manager leaves? Most have just accepted Kennedy has a job for life.
