BRENDAN RODGERS’ trusted right-hand man Chris Davies is set to join Ange Postecoglou’s coaching team at Tottenham.

And that could hand Celtic a significant boost in their quest to keep assistant manager John Kennedy.

Postecoglou asked Kennedy to join him on a four-year deal in north London. Despite expressing a desire to leave, the former Scotland defender is bound by the terms of an agreement blocking the Australian from poaching former staff at Parkhead.

Rodgers has made clear to Kennedy that he wants him to remain at the club, with talks continuing. A Spurs move for Davies appears to make the prospect more likely.

Previously Celtic’s assistant boss under Rodgers between 2016 and 2019, Welshman Davies had been quoted as the frontrunner for the head coach post at Swansea.

Hearts showed interest in him prior to the appointment of Steven Naismith as boss, but Davies, 38, expressed a desire to remain in English football.

Celtic want to resolve Kennedy’s situation before confirming the return of Rodgers as manager.

Applying the finishing touches to his new-look backroom team, the Northern Irishman has asked Leicester City’s post-match analyst Jack Lyons and performance coach Glen Driscoll to join him as he gears up for a stunning Parkhead comeback.

Last weekend, chief executive Michael Nicholson and chief financial officer Chris McKay flew to Mallorca to meet the 50-year-old, who has also been wooed by major shareholder Dermot Desmond.

A deal was thrashed out after directors agreed to Rodgers’ demand to invest in the players and infrastructure necessary to establish the club as a competitive force in Europe.

Also linked with the Celtic hotseat, Manchester City assistant Enzo Maresca is now expected to replace Rodgers at relegated Leicester.

Former Norwich City boss Daniel Farke also spoke to Celtic, but looks set to join Leeds United.

Postecoglou will look to make his first signings for Spurs after the club launched a joint bid for Leicester pair James Maddison and Harvey Barne

Think it's pish Kennedy going to spurs Rogers had Kennedy in his back room team and then Lennon and then we had a big delay with Howe which I think he was told Kennedy had to be in his back room team and he says * this .
Then we had Ang who also had Kennedy as his back room team and now with Rogers coming back he's to be a part of his as well .
Beginning to think Kennedy knows too much what went within the walls of Celtic park over the years and don't want him to leave for certain reasons.

 

Or maybe he's just really good at what he does.
