Would you accept Rodgers back as manager?

No, likely not. However we can't just give credit to a manager when a signing is good and blame the board when a signing is bad. Seems to happen with Ange, when CCV was linked the previous summer, as was Hart and I wouldn't be surprised if Abada and Starfelt were spotted by others and he just okayed. No manager is going to spot every signing. Rodgers didn't like the initial set up that had eyes on Dembele, Ajer and Roberts. He wanted his own system in that didn't seem to work within Celtic. He has to take blame with that along with the board.

The decision makers being in advanced talks with Rodgers just shows what we forgot in the last 2 years. The board needs the sack. All good work came from Ange who pushed the board to shut up and let him work. The only one I give credit is Nicholson because he seemed to actually work with Ange together to get his players in. Other than him, the board members are still a risk for our long-term development.

Rodgers is a good coach. But how quickly do we forget the things he was bad with? Like making up stories about Celtic legends? Lying and cheating to players? Not moving players like Boyata on? Why was he not prepared to replace him? What was his mate Congerton doing?

Do we really want another squad rebuild in two years because of Rodgers inability in the transfer market? At least Ange left us with a good squad which can be further developed and doesn't need a complete clear out.

We are in a strong position, why waste it with another lazy appointment when there are managers available who have experience like Knutsen and Iraola and playing style?

When people on here said Rodgers is the better appointment than Maresca, they were just too shortsighted to not see that the problem with this selection is, that the selection is way broader if the board would do their * job and scout managers. If there would only be this two man selection, in the strong position we are as a club atm, the hierarchies in our club just wouldn't have done their work. It's pure lazyness to only decide between these two.

Well, it's not done yet so we can still hope for the best. Rodgers failing at us would make the scene very quickly toxic because of his past with us. Does the board really want that?

See to be honest I don't care now what any of the managers done. It's a job not a personality contest. We have all learnt the hard way not to get so emotionally involved in the future. I would hope that we've all grown up a little more and are less gullible. All players and managers are out for themselves and some may or may not be good people. All that should really concern us is are they a winner? Will they take us further in Europe? BR I grant you will have to go some way in redeeming himself. He could win us 10 trebles and still not be a nice person. Maybe it takes that sort of ruthlessness be successful. Say what we like about his signings or the way he played the game he helped us to achieve 8 trebles. We need to get behind the team so that means getting behind him. We can do that without it being a love affair.

Im assuming hes being given a lot of money for Europe,so if Desmond has sanctioned it then its on him......He can obviously afford it.

The pressure will be on BR here...Hes also taken a huge gamble.....If he fails no one in England will want him again,so i personally think for the time up here he will be successful again.

 

Well a couple of years is all we can hope for with any of them so let's hope they bring a wee bit more success. I prefer positivity and am a glass half full type of ghirl

Any appointment ends in tears. Either they're successful and they leave us,
or they're not; the Huns win the league and they're sacked.

There are obviously better/more talented managers out there. Ange was better than Rodgers when we hired him and he was virtually unknown in Europe.

 

The structure has changed in terms of scouting and player transfers, I think this will go a long way to rectifying the mess we created when he was here last time (transfers thrown at him, the Mcginn saga etc.). Congerton is long gone as well. I for one see good times ahead domestically but if Desmond is pulling out the chequebooks then I think he is aiming at an improved showing in Europe, instead of us being horsed left right and centre in recent years.

 

Agree.

Not a fan of what he done, and i don't personlly want him in...but he's a successful manager and that's all i care about. He could make this up to us big time and all will be forgiven.

Best way to shut us all up is to win Trophies.
