yeah what sort of wizardry * has this man pulled !! Since Rodger left I have had nothing but hatred for the man and always refers to him as “the rat” and now I am buzzing for his return lol

The more I look back the more I can see he wasn’t backed and by season 2 and 3 the pish he was being signed it’s no wonder he jumped ship !

think the fact how penny pinching we where with him first time around then there’s not a chance he would come back if he wasn’t give assurances!

    can only see positives !

    Don't think that's accurate.

Compper spoke about having dinner with Rodgers before he signed, with Rodgers laying out his plans.
He also went to great pains to get Hendry, talking him up in the media beforehand.

This notion that he didn't control transfers is a false narrative. He had his signings and plenty of them.
Shaved is the only one for definite, as well as Moussa obviously, that we know he didn't personally sign. Others are up for debate. But certainly, imo, not the ones in the first 3 windows.

It's fair to say that the club decided to "take the lead" on transfers after seeing all the money he kept * away.

He signed a £7million player and operated at a at least a higher level than Ange over and above that. If he needs to massively outspend the rest of the opposition by more than we actually do then he's obviously not that great a manager

If you look at his last stint as manager subjectively then you put your self in his position without your green tinted
Glasses. If you were unhappy with your employers and you could get a better opportunity else where, more money, etc would you not go.

I know the I am a fan bit, but I don’t recon he’s our level of fan or ever has been, maybe as a kid.

I like the Jacksonville Jaguars been to see them a few times at Wembley have the T-shirt but I’m not invested in them the way I am Celtic, if they lose “Meh” if Celtic lose I don’t read the papers or look at websites for a week, if we get beat by the Huns I’m also furious the whole time and carry that into work. I will spend money on tickets to see us abroad and buy merchandise a lot. I even subscribe to Celtic tv and can’t see the games live, as I’m in uk I watch them that night or next day again lol Brendan is not this level of fan he’s me with the Jax.

and I’ve walked away from build projects if I think the employer is a * and too hard work or not willing to spend the money needed to get the job done right.

Weren't we supposed to be in for Fabian Schar as well under Rodgers or was that Ronnie?

This Leeds ‘to scupper Rodgers deal’ guff has my CPU all overheating slightly…. I’m not desperate for BR to come back… but I despise Leeds Utd.. and having any manager choose us over them would be rather satisfying.

“He’s OUR rat Durty Leeds…. * off and find your own!”

Again though there's a few other scenarios that wouldn't fit this narrative.

He wanted Perraud the LB who ended up at Southampton, he got Izaguirre. He wanted Castagne, didn't get him. Wanted McGinn, we all know the rest.

I doubt he want the likes of Arzani, Bayo etc and you've already mentioned shved. We probably only know a few of the scenarios where he didn't get his first choice.

The board definitely didn't back him in every way when you consider what he'd achieved. There's not giving him the funds ans then there's the complete opposite direction appearing to go for 4th, maybe even 5th choice targets.

He wanted to spend a bit more to help us try and make a dent in Europe. By all accounts that's what is being reported this time too.

We need to modernise as a club still, Ange was the first step in rebuilding us and I hoped he'd be the one to see it through but there's a lot of money still needs spent tontry and get us where we want to be.

There has to be a bigger picture than the domestic league otherwise it's all a bit pointless.

But we were so far off in Europe we'd have needed quiet a bit more. Also by that time it was becoming apparent that we weren't getting value for money on our signings. My biggest worry with him this time is we will back him financially only to end up with a big hole in our bank account.

The Boyata situation in particular shows his disregard for our bank balance

Aye because a bank balance is great fun to watch. We're no going bust, sitting with ,£60m+ thatll just get taxed is stupid. Get it spent and get us even better to watch.

Spend, spend spend and chase European success. I've seen it done before.

The model we need to follow is the model of teams similar to us who can still manage to do well in Europe. Teams like Ajax, Porto and Benfica can find the right balance between spending money and making money.

Certainly if we were to go down the route of one big splurge I would rather we done it with Ange who had a successful track record than Rodgers who has spent unwisely with us and his previous jobs

It’s not a case of massively outspending the rest. Because that’s clearly not what we do compared to Champions League teams we face. It’s having ambition to at least try and compete at that level. Loans and free agents galore, with a host of players at £1.5m and under simply will not allow that to happen. We have been going in the right direction in terms of our approach recently, and hopefully the board can match the ambition of Brendan Rodgers, because that certainly wasn’t eh case when Lawwell had the final say on matters.

Spending more money to allow us to actually compete in Europe will automatically mean we spend much more than other teams domestically. That’s the same with pretty much every league in Europe. Nobody is saying to give him an open chequebook. There has to be a balance however. You can’t expect to compete in Europe with a team full of loans and free transfers.

That's fine if you think we were close to the next level in Europe under him. I don't see that a £15 or £20 million spend was getting us out of the group stage. My gripe is not about spending the money it's about spending it wisely and I see no evidence that Rodgers will do this
