https://www.footballscotland.co.uk/...brendan-rodgers-celtic-transfers-27104225.amp here is a link to his 28 signings when he was here, there are only 4 that I would say were successful and he managed to * off some off them, thats a success rate of 1 in 7!!!, please don't allow him near the transfer market.

If Kennedy and strachan decide to stay because it’s Rodgers then I’d say desmond has got one over ange … possibly has something to do with why he went for Rodgers

Best man for the Job (touch wood it’s happening). Very exciting times ahead for us, if we back him in the transfer market we could have a serious go at Europe.

It was reported by the media that he turned down three job offers so there is more basis for that than your assertion that Ange would have left midway through the season based on nothing but your own opinion.

But im happy to dispense with both bits of speculation and look at actually what happened - Brendon left during a season after claiming to be a Celtic fan to go to Leicester, Ange left at the end of the season to go to Tottenham and never claimed to be a Celtic fan.

As for your point about Brendan being a manager first is all well and good, I understand when people make professional decisions and I was only ever happy for Kieran Tierney to leave and play at the highest level.

Im sorry but for me you dont get to claim to be a fan then leave halfway through the season, if he had waited a few months again he would have had my blessing. Maybe even if it had been a bigger club over time I would have looked at him less harshly.

You can use all the mental gymnastics made up speculations you want but objectively what Rogers and Ange did is not even comparable

Whilst that is true and probably a concern for all of us, I think alot of fans forget about the targets he wanted and didn't get. Going purely off memory and some of these might be wrong but he wanted benkovic and we got commper, he wanted mcginn and we got mulumbu, he wanted castagne and we got toljan. My point being if the board pushed out the boat for his primary target then it is undoubted that his hit rate would have been far more successful. We all know the theory is there has been soured relations over our transfer business, the signing of shved highlights that completely when Brendan made it clear it wasn't his signing and wingers was not what we needed at the time

Question is, are we resurrecting his old thread or starting Rodgers 2.0 thread? :fear:

yeah I agree that he was let down in who he wanted , add castange and piccini to that last , he must have really say something in castange to take him to Leicester. Commoner , Mulumbu and toljan should have been decent players for us but as Rodger’s didn’t want them they where never going to get in his team

It was also reported in the media that Ange was part of the recruitment search for the Spurs job from the very beginning ie in March when Conte was fired.

It has also bee confirmed in the media that Anges agent is friends with Levy and has been woking on getting his name on the list as next Spurs manager for some time.

His being willing to go to Spurs mid season kind of reneders the "turned down 3 relegation fodder clubs mid season" pr story meaningless.

If he was applying for that job in March he was willing to go in March, it was only Spurs dragging it out that meant that didn't happen. He is no better than Rodgers worse in fact for having a long history of * over clubs who invest their time in him.

See the biggest thing I take away from a lot of they transfers, is the ridiculous amount of loans or free agents. Even a lot of the players he signed for fees, they were signed for peanuts. There was only 6 of them cost £1.5m and above. With the players signed, we didn’t lose money overall either. We made £30m profit from Edouard and Dembele.

There was a complete lack of ambition looking at the signings, which is exactly why I wasn’t overly harsh on Rodgers when he left. He wasn’t properly backed by the board, and I think his ambitions outweighed Lawwell’s. I hope he comes back, because to me it will mean he has been given assurances this time.

Some of them aren’t as bad as made out I’d say a couple more than 4 but not many. He also missed out on McGinn and Castange didn’t get backed to get them. He also didn’t know who Shved was so how many were actually his full on signings out of that list after those sort of comments?

our recruitment structure has changed for the better and everyone keeps talking about his pish recruiting. He won’t be doing all that Lawwell Jnr will he will ask for a position and get given four or 5 different targets and they will work together to get them! That’s how recruitment should work and we seem to have the structure in place now.

We didn’t have as good a structure 4 years ago in that area or someone competent enough to do his job without Lawwell Snr (defacto DOF) interfering at every turn.

Window display removed from the Celtic shop in Argyle Street. Making way for the Brendan T-shirts?

This is true, to be honest, and I'm someone who's criticised Rodgers a lot in here for his transfers. The lack of ambition when he was here first time around was embarrassing. If that changes - and he has young Lawwell and Nicholson in charge when it comes to transfers - we might not have anything to worry about. By all accounts in McGinn and Castagne he had two quality players identified who we were never secured. Had those two signed his transfer record would have looked significantly better.
