Stayed quiet on the whole Rodgers thing, as even now, I'm not sure. A couple of 5-1's against them next season would win me round, including one at the debt star.

How do some of you guys know so much about what’s being discussed on their forums?

200 pages seems like a very specific number, for someone who is calling other posters a hun!?

And I’ll call our ex-manager a fat * as much as I wish btw. Firstly, because it’s completely accurate - he’s an Aussie and he’s a fat *. And secondly, he fecked off to epl in a manner that didn’t show a great deal of loyalty or respect to our club or fans and what we did for his career, so * him.

I’m not angry, I just don’t owe the man anything. He lacks class, so I’ll give him a name that fits his character! He’s just that fat Aussie bloke to me now…

To be fair, if I had the choice to win an EPL winner's medal or a * measuring contest, I probably wouldn't need to buy any silver polish.

Used to think reading their forum was weird behaviour, but having a look in after we've pumped them throughout the season is undoubtedly funny as *, some really excellent material.

Leicester won the title in 16, Rodgers took over in 19. They finished 9th the season before and sat in 12th. Leicester were not in a better position now than where Spurs are now.
Overall Spurs are more successful too, won more titles than Leicester, won 3 European trophies. Been a bit in recent years but modern football sadly isn't all about trophies it is about coking 4th or above in the league. That is success in England, as sad as it is. For many coming 17th is.

    What revisionist bullsh*t is this?

Won a double first season, a treble the second.

    2021/22 League - 93 points, +70 GD, 92 Goals scored.
    2022/23 League - 99 points, +80 GD, 114 Goals scored.

How is that regression? This is the bread and butter, right there.

Oh, and for the record, no Celtic manager has ever been sacked because of European performances. But, for * and giggles, lets take a gander at the recent record at that CL level, because if you're comparing EL GS to the CL GS there is a bit of a difference. That said, we conceded the exact same number of goals against (15) in the 2021/22 EL GS as we did in the 2022/23 CL GS.

But for being a bit more clinical in front of goal some of those results could have gone our way. Of course, that did mean that we were exposed to counter-attacks from some of the very best that Europe has to offer this past season in the CL Group Stages - a level that Celtic has not played at since 2017/18. That is quite some time without being at that level, and comparing progress there to the performances in 2021/22 EL Group Stage where we did get 3 wins does represent there is a learning curve.

That said the last 3 times Celtic reached the CL Group Stages, a combined GA 15 in 2022/23 compared with GA16 in 2016/17 & GA18 in 2017/18 (all purely GS games alone, not Qualifiers etc), so in actual fact we conceded fewer goals in the 6 Group Stage games last season than we had in the previous 2 CL GS campaigns we have been in, under Rodgers.

Not that those comparitive numbers are anything to be particularly impressed by, but for as prone to being hit as we were on the counter, some consideration should be made for ultimately not making the most of the opportunities we created - amd there were a lot - as well as some goals that were allowed by Hart that quite simply should not have been, can't put it all down entirely to the tactics that were being used.

Yes, there was very clearly room for improvement, and I would hope that this coming season whoever the manager is, now that the squad have a lot more experience at this level than we had going into last season's CL (where apart from the likes of CalMac, Hart and Forrest there wasn't exactly a whole heap of CL experience in the squad), that that can only serve to make us a better team for this coming campaign in the next CL GS.

BRENDAN RODGERS is on the verge of agreeing a sensational return as Celtic manager.

SunSport understands a fresh round of positive talks today has left the 50-year-old poised to accept the dramatic offer to succeed Ange Postecoglou.

The 50-year-old – who hosted Celts chief executive Michael Nicholson at his Spanish holiday home on Saturday for face-to-face negotiations – now knows for sure the position is HIS to turn down.

It’s a massive decision for the out of football Rodgers - who quit Parkhead in February, 2019, to head for then Premier League Leicester City and sparked outrage from the Hoops support.

But majority shareholder Dermot Desmond and chairman Peter Lawwell are increasingly confident the Northern Irishman – seven trophies in his first remarkable stint in Paradise , including back-to-back Trebles and an Invincible campaign – WILL accept the opportunity to take over the reins again.

New Spurs gaffer Postecoglou has left behind a squad packed with top talent and which secured a world record eighth domestic clean sweep with the Scottish Cup final triumph over Caley Thistle.

Ex-Liverpool manager Rodgers – who first took charge of Celtic in 2016 – had been planning to take an extended break from the game following his sacking at relegated Leicester back in April.

But the Hoops hierarchy – who have discussed their vacancy with a number of candidates – suddenly focused on him as a serious candidate towards the end of last week before Nicholson then jetted out to Rodgers’ Spanish hideaway.

Rodgers was previously the biggest earning boss in Celtic’s history on £2.2 million a year and has been guaranteed another bumper contract plus huge bonuses AND major transfer resources to ensure the champions remain Scottish football’s kings amid Michael Beale’s significant Rangers rebuild.

He was originally wary of the reaction of supporters to the possibility of him coming back, with many still disgusted by the way he left Celtic mid-season to head back south.

But it’s clear there’s also still plenty ready to welcome back because of his previous phenomenal success for the club.

Rodgers has had approaches from other clubs – but it’s Celtic pushing the boat out to land him and it’s a highly tempting proposition.

Billionaire Desmond is hopeful of confirmation over the next few days.
