One thing to be certain of if Rodgers is appointed the Scottish media will dredge up all the ill feeling and negative noises made when he left before. * them but they’ll go into overdrive

Are gonna stop misquoting me ffs lol.

I never said it was Rodgers only.

The point I'm making, is that Rodgers offers nothing on that front.

We were all expecting Ange to get his second CL round, see if he could kick on and take us up another level. We unfortunately we'll never know.

What we do know, is that Rodgers won't. Not with the players he had, and not with other players we have now. Call it speculation all you want. He's managed three CL teams and hasn't managed to get any of them out of the group stages.

    Here it is, in black and white ;

    2012/13 – Liverpool – UEL last-32
    2014/15 – Liverpool – UCL group, UEL last-32
2015/16 – Liverpool – sacked after two UCL games
    2016/17 – Celtic – UCL group
    2017/18 – Celtic – UCL group, UEL last-32
    2018/19 – Celtic – UEL last-32
    2020/21 – Leicester – UEL last-32
    2021/22 – Leicester – UCL group

He hasn't even managed to take a side past the the last 32 in the Europa League ffs. He also claimed he'd never even heard of the conference league and didn't even know what it was. What sort of a * attitude is that to have as a professional manager?

As for your comparison with Jose, it just doesn't scan. At all.

Jose has won titles in Portugal, England, Italy and Spain.
Rodgers has titles in Scotland only, against almost zero competition, same as Ronny Deila.
Mourinhio was sacked at EPL clubs because he couldn't push them on any further. Rodgers was sacked because the Liverpool players couldn't stand him, and because he got Leicester relegated. But let me guess... It was finding that did that? It doesn't matter how much his budget was cut, with the players he had, EPL title winners included, they should've been nowhere near the drop. That's on him.

Again, this will all be blamed on so called financial backing. The sincere truth of the matter is he's been backed EVERYWHERE he's been, he just doesn't spend money wisely. Not at Liverpool, not with us, not a Leicester. He has a hit rate of about 1/6. Which is absolutely atrocious.

He spent 300m at Liverpool. Look what he bought. Rickie * Lambert
    Danny Ings, Divok Origi.

He spent 30m with us. Look what he pished it away on; Bayo, Kouassi, Hendry, Lewis * Morgan.

He spent 213m at Leicester, it's not even worth listing the * he bought, as Leicester fans will tell you himself, only two of them actually turned out players. Only one of them netting a return.

You can talk all day about his backing being pulled by all three clubs. Is it not more logical to assume backing was pulled because he simply CANNOT be trusted in the market?

Rodgers is a great coach. He's world class. He can take a player, and have them bursting through whatever ceiling they think they've reached.

He's just not a very good manager imo.

Everywhere he goes there inevitable disharmony at the club. Liverpool, Celtic, Leicester. He's fallen out with, or had players ridicule him at all three clubs.

We have a great squad, pulling together, pushing eachother on, totally dedicated to developing. Brendan Rodgers shouldn't be allowed anywhere near them.
If we had a squad of pish, and fractured dressing room, I'd be the first to say get him in. He'll get a song out of them. But it's not the case at all.

I'm not reading all that * and I didn't mis quote you, infact I didn't quote your post at all. You said you didn't want a manager that was sacked twice in England. I just pointed out many top class managers have been sacked down there..

I think I also pointed out we have been * in Europe for years, not Rodgers fault alone.

They finished 11th last season and lost and drew more games in the in the league than they won.

Yeah it’s one thing I fundamentally don’t agree with.

I get the idea that we can’t speculate on whether Ange would’ve left mid-season for a premierships job (I’m entirely convinced he would’ve - he has previous).

The idea that Tottenham is some sort of vastly different proposition from the job Rodgers took on at Leicester doesn’t wash with me. Very similar standing.

I'd say he has a few options. If he wants back in the EPL and especially the top 6 I doubt he thinks coming back to Celtic is his best option. Only way he'll be noticed up here again is of he makes an impact on Europe. Promotion with Leeds or winning the championship might. Leeds looked * mind even down in the championship they might struggle

You can't just look at results but also at how they were achieved. Leicester city won the league with a counterattacking system and a good deal of luck. That was great, but they had no foundation to build on. Spurs were easily the best team in the English league that year and, had they won it, there is a chance they could have built on that with Pocchetino. Their ceiling is just higher. Could Leicester have even dreamed of a CL final? Are Spurs likely to get relegated in the next decade? I live in England and if you ask anyone here who is the bigger club between Leicester and Spurs, you'll only get one answer.

Spurs have done he haw to warrant being included in the Big 6 bracket. HE HAW. Calling them mediocre is a compliment.

They are rich, have a fancy stadium and are based in North London that's the only "attributes" they have over the likes of Leicester.

Bit harsh saying Leicester won it by luck, you can win a cup with a bit of luck but not the premier league. When he left for Leicester they had just won the league and were in the champions league and were getting decent financial backing. Hardly tinpot or mediocre. Spuds might have a higher ceiling now but the fact remains they have won absolutely * all in decades. They are not even the biggest club in North London never mind all of London or England

You can easily get pumped in Europe playing defensive surrender-ball. Plenty of teams do. Setting up to not get beat is no recipe for European success. You might luck onto the odd result, when you score from your one corner and the opposition fails to convert from 25 shots, but it's an aberration. That's why all the smart clubs of a similar size to us have taken an approach similar to what Ange was proposing: a positive system of play which is built upon year after year, resulting in gradual improvements. See Club Brugge this year for example, finally qualifying out of their group with a high pressing, possession-based system. They were also very compact defensively, so striking a balance is possible.

That's not to say that our results under Ange in Europe were acceptable or that he had his tactics sussed. But there were plenty of signs to suggest that with certain tweaks, a similar albeit smarter approach to what he was employing could work.

Take the Real Madrid home game for instance. You can't argue that pressing them aggressively from the start wasn't a good strategy, as we created several good chances to score and limited the amount of possession they had to hurt us. It's not unreasonable to think that we could have been a goal or two ahead inside 60 minutes. McGregor misses a shot which was basically millimetres from going in and Maeda fluffs a sitter in front of goal. Score one or both of those, and then you can become a bit more circumspect and manage the game.

I know that Liverpool have a transfer committee and know for a fact that Rodgers didn't pick all of the players during his time here either, so apart from that.... :56:
