He was the biggest contribution as a manager towards his Celtic career success. He had the talent. Rodgers nurtured it and made it come to fruition. He was a foot out the door when he took over as a winger that couldn’t nail down his place after some initial success

He was a phenomenal Celtic manager at least. 7 trophies out of 7.

Many believed it was because other teams worked out how to play against us.

Im sure a major factor in him leaving was because the board never got him Castagne, Mcginn and Schar. Im sure another was Piccini.

See the more it think about him. The way Nicholson and mckay run the ship. Lawwell jnr in control of player recruitment I actually start to get a bit giddy at the thought tbh

We brought in players like Sinclair, Dembele, Kolo toure initially and were up against the likes of Clint hill and Josh Windass.
The only competition was for second place. The gulf in finances between us and the rest was huge.

Im not saying it wasnt some achievement and maybe im still bitter at him. The level of consistency was still remarkable. But Rodgers teams were always found wanting in europe. Some of the defending was brutal.

We’ve been up against some competition in Scotland a lot of times and not had anywhere near that winning mentality as well. Before Rodgers we had 3 Trebles.

He brought something to us that we didn’t have before then. I wouldn’t say a ‘great’ manager in the world football view, on the cusp of that, but I’d 100% say a world class coach.

And also make no mistake, if we didnt have CL football Rodgers wouldnt want anything to do with it.

Im gutted hes coming back. Give it to someone who deserves it and would be hungry to make a name with us and make their mark.

I take your point mate but very different sets of circumstances.

I just dont feel as if Rodgers has been able to produce a consistent brand of football. I dont know if he is as good a coach as he thinks he is.

how did he drop the ball so bad at Liverpool? And then at Leicester? He was well backed, moreso than a lot of other clubs.

To follow on from that discussion above, if the model is buying young players, developing them, selling them on and then buying better young players; he's definitely world class at that development part. As long as he doesn't play the key role in recruitment.

They two clubs he wasn’t well backed at, and you could argue by the end up he wasn’t at us as well.

But I get where you’re coming from, because my reservations about him are all long term. But for two/three years at least, if we back him and have the the support in place in the background, he’s guaranteed success for me.

Certainly right now for this season he is by far the least risky option.

Could be a blessing for us if he leaves after the 2 year mark.

Does all the good work next 2 seasons, then leaves before his third season syndrome kicks in :ange2:

Any draw or defeat is seized upon from a section of our support regardless though, the reaction will just be slightly more personal in this case.

The first point, before it’s even announced I’m fully braced for tbh, 1/2 years of guaranteed success with Rodgers. Hopefully our board plan from day dot if they go down this route for the same.

I think people are forgetting how * we were in Europe under the snake, throwing players in at barca and the humiliation that was games against psg, we can do much better than someone looking to use us as a stepping stone, yet again.

    * RODGERS

I’m fairly sure this is all just a ploy to get Lennon back in the job.

Rodgers comes in, does a good job, leaves mid-season to take on Brighton .. only one man can save the day..

I’m slowly coming around to the idea, as it seems I don’t have much of a choice.

In pure footballing terms it’s a good appointment, but I’ll make no apologies for saying I’ll find it extremely difficult to get behind him personally the way I did in his first reign.
