I rate Ange highly too but the fact is we may struggle to get someone similar or as experienced. We struck lucky. Despite our scepticism.

Rodgers is as experienced as anyone we could possibly hope to get

I think with Rodgers, he's cured his itch and realised (hopefully) the EPL isn't the be all and end all, also learned the hard way of how cutthroat it is. Sadly I see Ange sharing the same fate, that doesn't mean I want Ange to fail or think Ange is a bad manager, I just think the EPL is a cesspool, your never given time, then when the players decide to stop playing or the owner/board stops supporting them it goes south very fast, no matter who you are.

He's not getting it bcoz he works at city group it's bcoz people withing the club rate him and he's clearly left a very good impression on folk at the club when he was spoken to 2 years ago.

Personally I agree that Knutsen and Rodgers are better options, altho other than those 2 I would take Maresca ahead of most of the other names mentioned.

But given his standing as a coach and how highly regarded he is in the game I think it's massively disrespectful to the guy to say hes only getting the job based on some loose link with the city group

You're right, we might not get someone as experienced. Rodgers is a very good coach.

I just think the reaction to it would be weird and wouldn't be easily ironed out with a few wins, like with any other manager. His return doesn't fill me with any exciting emotions, good or bad. I personally want to feel some excitement

Rodgers all day long for me. Would be delighted if he was willing to come back.

I'll be gutted if it's Rodgers to be honest. Competence aside (and I have my issues even there) it'll be such a downer after Ange to have a manager i consider such a throbber.

    Ajax no longer after Knutsen.

He supposedly gets a % of the player sales at Bodo, which may be why he's so hesitant to move.

Brendan will want back significantly that was the issue in 2018. He got back to back UCL campaigns and got edouard that summer and was told to wait for mcginn and castange lawwell thought their values would go down he decided they didn't represent good value after splashing out £9m on Eddy!

i get how well rodgers did the last time round with the first team though icant really recall what kind of improvements or structures he put in place for the long term .his transfer record was abysmal outside of dembele sinclair edouard and maybe toure (maybe not his fault).it possibly wasnt in his remit to do much outside the first team coaching ,there seemed to be a lot more strategic planning goin on with * .may need someone with a view to the bigger picture unless the are gonna dangle a director of football job at kennedy or someone

Rodgers would likely be in a great position to get another treble... but he'll break the squad along the way and we'll pay for it for a couple seasons after he's gone.

I don't see players really buying into his character anymore

Without even clicking i remember the Boyata one. Then he chucked it and didn't even want to play for us in qualifiers so that worked out well for him. We got papped out as well..

Then Ntcham. Toxic as * was the talk over and over and was about 25 mill all in that we let eventually walk out for fuckall..

Must've been the board lining their pockets again. Lol..

    Compper. Criminal beyond belief haha..

Same, we couldn't afford to sign duds with the regularity he did in his first stint.

Ange basically got it right more or less every time bar Bernabei and McCarthy (although highly likely that was a Desmond signing)

Under Rodgers we had Gamboa, De Vries, Compper, Hendry, Arzani, Benyu, Musonda, Bain, Morgan. Even Ntcham at £4.5m indont think we got money's worth out of given we missed the opportunity to 3x our money and he walked out for nothing.

Made us knock back an absolute gift of a £9m offer for Boyata with 9 months left on his contract, simply because adequate replacements hadn't been sourced.

He basically coached the under-performing talent we already had at the club to bring us success, that's not a possibility now.

Ange had a success rate with players we haven't seen in recent times. It'll be hard to replace that regardless, whether it's Rodgers or not.

The one thing that I'm slightly more positive about transfers wise under BR 2.0 would be the fact Mark Lawwell is here.

    Spot on mate..

I hate him and his appointment gives me the fear. He'd pants it I think..

His signings were a joke when you think about it..

That sums him up as well. Didn't want to lose Boyata who was walking regardless a few months down the line because we hadn't got anyone lined up....and that was because he brought his charlatan recruitment cowboy to the club..

He's a good coach and seems to get a bounce wherever he goes initially that lasts maybe a season or 2. Then it usually always goes pear shaped once he starts demanding more and his foots right in the door..

I actually found his football boring as * for quite a long time. Spells of grinding out 1 nil wins and side to side pish. Struggling at certain grounds regularly..

It's a firm no for me..
