I’m not sure but I think we would be forced to accept the compensation.

This was about them resigning though.

Spurs would still have to either pay up the rest of their contract to us or if there’s a release clause pay it if they can’t agree compensation with us.

Don't think we could stop them. Think we'd be able to sue them though.

Really starting to take a dislike to Ange and his methods.

His methods of coming in to a losing squad, turning things around into winners when most of us had written it off as a rebuild season, and then winning a treble? Yeah, his methods are the worst.

You think the next manager we appoint won't consider bringing his own backroom staff?

Kennedy and Strachan were blamed constantly during Lennon's last spell and no one rated them when Ange arrived. He backed them and praised them when the easier route to appease the general fan base was to replace them.

Not sure what there is to criticise here as long as we get some form of compensation.

Pretty vague statement, especially in the John Kennedy thread.

To me, in hindsight, Postecoglou was nothing more than just another ambitious manger like the rest. Is what it is.

JK's progression is a separate thing though. If he wants to go to Spurs with Postecoglou then he obviously needs to follow the path he feels will progress him professionally. Wish him all the very best.

His methods? He completely transformed us in a season or two with his methods.

We always knew that though, if he wasn’t he wouldn’t have made it to Celtic and won as much and had such an impact if not.
Spurs wasn’t his first offer, it’s an offer he thought he could make something special at.

I think he’s capable of it. We were lucky to have him, we were lucky about how he got here in the first place.

Wish him all the best. But I’ll always be gutted about the what if’s about only two years into his project I believe. Wish him all the best though

People complaining about JK maybe going now is * peak Celtic fans, before Ange this poll on the thread was sitting far less equally.

Interesting how you quoted the bit about Postecoglou, and typed a few paragraphs about him, and not once referred to JK.

    Agreed.

I made this thread when I was absolutely wankered on Captain Morgan's. But my initial sentiment remains. I've never rated him. A trained professional CB who when stepped into the coaching role didn't seem to be able to teach basics. "Defensive coach" or not.

Opinions of him seem to rise and fall on the opinion of whatever manager he's hitched his wagon to. His stock is high again because of the perception that he does a good job, again.

After Deila it was (mostly) "get rid".

After BR it was "he's obviously great". (Despite no actual evidence except a single report claiming Rodgers wanted to bring him with him).

After Lennon it was "Lennedy". Get rid asap. Proving as a manager at least, he was completely tactically clueless, and couldnt motivate the players anymore than Lennon could.

Now after Ange, he's back to being this elite assistant who is good enough to kill dead things.

The same old arguments appear to get dragged out everytime. "Players like him" - again, for the umpteenth time, VVD and Griff both credit Collins as the best coach they've worked with blah blah blah. Sevco players big upped Wartnoccio as this genius coach. We know better.

If he's not a great coach why would Ange want him - it's perfectly reasonable that Ange wants to take JK and indeed Strachan. He's a massive job on his hands and would prefer to have people he's built a trusting professional relationship with. Because he went it alone here doesn't mean he wants to do it again. It's not like his contact book is dripping with UK based coaches ffs that he knows and trusts.

Although the viciousness of my disdain has maybe ebbed a bit on the past few years, I still don't see his position at Celtic as justified. Opinions of players mean very little to me. Professional opinions are often painted with the same brush as personal ones. Ive worked with my current boss for three years. She knows me. Knows my temperament, knows the job. That doesn't mean I think she's professionally good at her job. In fact, she's completely out if her depth. But I would be reluctant to swap her for an unknown quantity, who could be an utter * hammer.

It's time for him to move on. Nearly a decade as an assistant under 4 different managers and a failed stint as temporary manager don't scream competence to me.

    It screams nepotism.

Ange has consistently had high praise for him and explained he runs the day to day, and decides on things that need analysed and things that were enough of a concern to escalate to Ange.

Brendan Rodgers tried to bring him with him, you won’t believe that, but it’s true.

And then there’s the players opinions that have actually worked with him that you want to try to dismiss as worthless.

The defensive coach things just funny now, at one point Kolo Toure was specifically that, and * seemed to get him mixed up with Kennedy even then.

At a point after that, at least set piece wise, it was Damian Duff. And he done a phenomenal job.

Everybody who has worked with Kennedy whether that being coached by him or had him as an assistant, except Lennon, has had high praise for him.

Some fans just guess at a job he should be doing that they dislike about the team and blame Kennedy for it. He was the guy to blame for everything bad and was the guy hanging onto others success and wasn’t even influential anyway with any success.

He was a large part of 5 Trebles. That’s success, and if he follows Ange I wish him all the best and a return at somepoint if he strikes out on his own and achieves success.

Also btw, Tony Mowbray and Deila were both no nonsense CB’s who had no defensive coaching bone in their bodies, where guys played doesn’t reflect their management. Except Diego Simione, he manages teams exactly how he played :56:

Kennedy has been at Celtic since he was 16, he’s now 40 and wants this new challenge. We should come to a deal to let him go and wish him all the best.

Wouldn’t be fussed if he was to leave. He should have been out the door when Lennon left in all honesty. Totally unheard of that a team can go through such a horrific period and when the manager leaves, the backroom team don’t follow. A new manager will have a backroom team they wish and are allowed to bring with them anyway, or they should have at least.

The season won’t even be finished in a fortnights time never mind preseason starting, there’s internationals and international tournaments on until the start of July.

At the end of the day if they want to follow Ange then they will simply resign, the best the club can do is get the maximum compensation out of spurs and let them go with our blessing, who knows Kennedy may return as manager in the future if his career continues to grow.

They can resign but it will cause legal issues with spurs over their contracts. So Spurs themselves would probably rather not go that route.

For me it’s not about the individual leaving, if Ange stayed and JK was leaving to take a managers role we would all be saying great good luck, it’s the fact the whole coaching staff leave en mass and there is no continuity, I would not be against him leaving next season but someone needs to stick around to get the pre season started and help the new coaching team settle in. Loyalty goes both ways.
