No, we need someone unaffiliated with Celtic.

If covid never happened, we would have won the 10. Lennon geniunly handled that terribly. Cancelling our games by sturgeon putting us on the backfoot instantly. Too many new players not allowed to socialise to build a team. Us sending tests to a proper lab not a dodgy one like others etc.

I believe it’s going to be Rodgers. Board are probably trying to gauge fan reaction before pulling the trigger. Maresca as assistant with a view to taking over in 2 or 3 years? Who knows, hard to see him leaving the City number 2 job for ours but surely they’re not lining him up for the job. Surely..

I wouldn’t leave mid season or quote any legend surely that’s like a big plus. Am a fan so know the expectations and my striker hit 29 goals last season :56:

Look, I’m sorry, but we need someone who doesn’t know the city.

According to the Daily Vinyl: The Celtic board will not be spooked into moving too quickly as they sift through the credentials of their leading candidates to replace manager Ange Postecoglou.

Don't think they've made their mind up yet. Gonna take a bit of time I reckon.

Regarding Maresca's failure at Parma, did Postecoglou not do something similar in the Greek second division before he came to us?

Yes, in 2008 before his 5 successful jobs in a row.

Inbetween that failure and us he's had a whole lot of successful stints. In fact, us hiring Maresca now would be the equivalent of hiring Ange after that Greek third division failure.

This board know all about the financial side of things but think it wouldn't surprise me if they did hire maresca and wouldn't be happy with that .
Just do what spurs did and go for someone who has done something this season with their club and stop looking at coaches who are unemployed for fucksake as we are in the group stages of the champions league and treble winners.

It’s a myth mate. There is no official link or ties to CFG.

We have contacts there simply because Mark Lawwell worked at CFG for a number of years.

We’ve used it to our advantage, yes, but there’s no stipulation that we must appoint someone from that circle.

Sort of stuff they were saying 2 years ago when the whole Howe fiasco had played out.

Maybe a counter measure by the Lawells against DD wanting to hire Rodgers again. Make it the best of 2 evils so to speak. Promising Pep coach or the rat.

Could be just over thinking it.

Because he's peps assistant doesn't mean he's any good being his own man .
We are Celtic and shouldn't be giving the job to someone who's had one managerial job and that was a disaster.

That perhaps could have been a valid argument if we were at the the point just prior to Ange. Not now however. We are guaranteed Champions League football, have a very good squad of players, and a very healthy bank balance. If we can’t attract someone better than a guy who has had one managerial appointment and failed completely then we have problems. There’s enough managers out there that we could get here without taking a punt on Maresca, because that’s exactly what it is, a punt.

No appointment is a certainty to be a success, however someone who has shown the ability to be a good manager over someone who hasn’t is more likely to succeed surely?

And he’s one of three assistant managers at that.
