Who could we replace Ange with?

I honestly don’t know much about the managerial landscape. From what I can see, there’s plenty of decent candidates and I’m getting the vibe that we are a desirable place for most of them to come to.

In that context, Maresca feels like a huge risk.

 

Think this will be a hard sell from the club with Ange he had so much charisma said all the right things and got us in board that way maresca I can't see that being the case but I wanted Ange to be denied the job by red tape with the coaching badges situation and he turned out to be my fav manager since Rodgers I really really hope we get it right and the new guy hits the ground running but I'm nervous

I said there’s enough on his CV to justify the opportunity, and I believe there is, even if there are more experienced and preferable candidates out there. If you offered me Knutsen or Iraola over him I’d take them every time, but let’s not pretend that they’re not a risk either.

Pascal Jensen 16/1 on Skybet ( I know, I know) and don't even think he was on the list yesterday. Had to Google his name, he's the AZ Alkmaar manager.

 

His CV would make him an outside contender for the Hibs job. There’s nothing on it to suggest he should be considered for the Celtic job.

 

Sadly I think they feel like they can take the risk because they did with Ange

 

It's what they done with Ronny they knew whoever come in could win the league and if he turned out to be the new Pep then happy days. Its also why Rodgers left us as the board didn't think a further level of investment was required at that time to kick on as huns that far behind us.

Board also used same logic in 10iar season when they gave Lennon the job as they figured we would have to regress a fair bit and huns to get a fair bit better. Guess what tho both happened and they * it.

 

It will be Maresca. Our appointments follow a pattern. Ange was a foreign left-field appointment and worked out, so the board will attempt to replace with someone they perceive as similar. Should Maresca fail we'll go for a homegrown known quantity, a former player or established Scottish/Irish manager. That's how our board thinks, it's a pattern you can detect going back like 30 years.

 

Has anything changed with Maresca other than City saying they won't stand in his way? (Which is standard)

 

Maresca is just reckless though. At least Ange had experience and success and could fall back on that when things where tough at the start.

20 games more than mikal arteta yet a club bigger than us thought working alongside the best manager in the world was good enough experience for them and it's worked out pretty well for them.

No guarantees he will be the same but you don't get to the level he's at or be as highly rated by people in the know by being hopeless.

There's another logic at play as well. It's a cheap option. We have links with City Group that has seen their personnel come directly to us. Probably we don't need to buy him out his contract, they'll just let him go in the knowledge that they can hire him back should it not work out - just like with his failed stint at Parma.

It'd be one thing if this was a former Celtic man we were giving an opportunity to, but to hire an unproven manager with no history at our club is unjustifiable. It's a baffling decision until you understand the strange logic that DD and co operate on, then it makes perfect sense.
