Rodgers did a terrific job at Leicester. Two fifth place finishes, an FA cup, and beat Manchester City to the Community Shield.

He also signed what would become their record breaking sale in Wesley Fofana.

Yes, it went a bit downwards towards the end but their owners lost a fair bit of money during Covid and their transfer business reflected that.

Won 7 trophies out of 7, u can claim it was a free hit all you like but in the 4 years prior to his arrival when there's was no huns in the league we weren't winning trebles so it's not as easy as you claim.

He took a leicester team that was in danger of relegation to 2 top 6 finishes, won an fa cup and reached semi finals of a European competition, went a bit * up in his 3rd season but financial fair play had a large say in that.
By all means criticise him for his personality until the cows come home but people claiming he's a * manager bcoz the dont like him is wide of the mark.

Lot of revisionism going on here.

No issue with people not wanting him due to how he left, but he is a high quality manager, was very successful here, and despite having a relatively ‘free-hit’ domestically, had us performing better in Europe than Ange did.

Again, not my first choice, but as @Celtic_Daft1888 said there’s good reason to view him as the least risky choice.

Hoping we go down a different route but just wondering...to those with the more 'strong' views on bringing him back, what are you likely to do if he gets the job? Would you boo him off the bus? Shout abuse in the street? Fly an anti-brendan banner at the games?

Curious to know how committed you are to not having him back.

People had no problem pretending they never hailed and supported Lennon’s reappointment once 10 was blown.

It’ll be the same with Rodgers once the results start rolling in.

I personally wouldn’t welcome him back to the club I love! You just know he’d jump ship again given the first opperchancety to manage in the soulless EPL.

Should we really be raking over old coals to appoint the next manager?

There’s an abundance of great coaches out there that would do a fine job for us in my opinion. Rogers has burnt his bridges I feel. Teams tend to work out his style of play after a season or 2, so it’s a no from me, for what that’s worth.

    Hail Hail

No doubt he is a high-quality manager but there are several other variables that need to be taken into account too.

    1. He took over an under-performing but packed full of unrealised potential squad from Deila. Yes his coaching brought the best out of players but we're performing at a high level now, can he eke out any more improvement from these players?

    2. His transfer record was pretty pathetic to say the least, his success came about due to 1. moreso than transfers. For a summer that we will likely see a few big name players leave and need replaced that's a huge concern

    3. The huns are more consistent now than they were in any of Rodgers' seasons - can he get everyone on board & motivated like he did when he first came in? From January 2018 onwards our domestic form was patchy.

    4. His relationship with then CEO now Chairman reached complete breaking point with Lawwell doing jiggery-pokery in the transfer market, BR playing under-strength teams to make a point and then underhanded jibes when we signed players in Jan 2019 just before he left. How can that be repaired?

There is no doubting Rodgers is a top coach and would be able to get the team playing well. It was a shame when we lost Dembele as the sort of 3-4-1-2 he was building towards before he went with Edouard and Dembele up top looked exciting.

However, my massive concern with Rodgers is recruitment. We could be staring in the face of losing Kyogo, Abada, Hatate, O’Riley and Starfelt amongst others not to mention Turnbull and Mooy.

If the majority of that goes we will have some serious cash to spend but need some serious recruitment. Rodgers didn’t have much success in the market and that does worry me. We could be looking at needing
a Goalkeeper, Left Back, at least one centre back if not two, up to 4 centre midfielders, a right winger and at least one striker.

Think a lot would depend on his attitude, TBH. If he were to come here really keen to prove himself again he could be a really good choice. Even if that means he was trying to rebuild his reputation in England to go back to a decent EPL club in 2 years, I'm down with that as he could only do that by both winning the league and at least one cup domestically plus a good performance in Europe. If he comes here for a wee bit of money between jobs then it won't go well. Beale has got that lot playing well and the only time they have faced each other, Rodgers was already phoning it in and he lost quite convincingly (let's be honest, that was Beale not Gerrard).

So, yeah, what exactly is his attitude?

Our aim for next season is win the league, to get access to champions league. BR is the best man to do it. Nothing else matters.

He gained 2 top 6 finishes, but that's something you can get a lot of draws and still pull off. In his second season with us he got 82 points, winning only 24 games. That performance would have gotten 2nd the last two seasons.
He may have done better than Ange in Europe and I think he would again I'm not confident he would win the league.

You seem to have a ‘clouded’ view of things Neil Lennnon …. not sure what colour of cloud though..

Im pretty sure that most fans were ok with NL coming in to steady things when BR did a midnight….
They appreciated him getting the treble over the line…

…. but it was fairly unanimous amongst the support that that was as far as it should go and that bringing in a serious replacement was a priority. The ‘showers’ appointment fiasco was wholesale mocked from the outset… fans could see from the conflab between DD and Co that day precisely what was going to unfold. It didn’t improve from there.

The support might have got behind NL once appointed full time… but doesn’t mean they approved… it only got worse when he failed to resign.

Very fair comments there. I don't want him back due to how the rat left us the first time and how he handled that whole situation. But I can see how he can be looked on as the least risky and very likely to be successful if he did come back choice.
