People need to look at this logically. We know what Rodgers can do as a manager and what he has done for us in the past.

Yes it left a very bitter taste in the mouth him leaving to go to England. What we need to accept though is that every quality manager we have and every quality player we have can and probably will take a bigger and better contract with an EPL club. There are no managers like Tommy Burns left in this world. Tommy would have managed us for free and would never have walked out on us no matter what. But those type of guys dont exist anymore.

So when you weigh it up is it better to bring back Rodgers, who we know all about and what he can do?

Or risk another appointment with an obscure name from the continent that might work but might not? It worked with Ange but that wont always be the case.

The idea that he needed a successful stint at Celtic to land a job like Leicester is laughable.

He was just fresh off nearly leading Liverpool to their first title in decades. Any team below the top 4 would have offered him a job, whether he was at Celtic or lying on a beach.

Everyone knows why he left, they just don’t like admitting it because they fell for the propaganda in the direct aftermath of his departure.

I’d welcome him - and his far superior record to Ange - back with open arms.

Rodgers will mow yer lawn, do a great job and then * on it.

Wid still take him back for simple reason he is a winning manager who knows how to get the job done, we don't have to love the guy, as long as he can deliver success everything else is window dressing.

I've no problem with Rodgers, or Ange for that matter, leaving us for an EPL team.

But Rodgers * off mid season when we still had a treble to play for and we were still going for 10 in a row. So I wouldn't have him back regardless of how successful he was.

He's also likely to split the fans.

If he did come back here I don't think we can automatically assume he would be an instant success again, he smashed the huns when they were are their absolute weakest the first season, but his second season points tally wouldn't have been enough to win the league this year or last, and his recruitment gives me the fear.

    He's ruled himself out.

Thank *. We need to move forwards, not backwards.

He’s definitely not ruled himself out, don’t know where that has come from but it’s a load of *.

No. Even regardless of his previous carry-on I think it’d be a sideways move at best.

Rodgers and Dembele, both free agents at the same time! Get the old gang back together again? I prefer to be moving forward in football and not spend much time reminiscing about the past but it certainly makes you wonder.

He would bring success but upon leaving the squad would be broken and dead.

I'd rather not have him back for that reason.

The squad was broken due to Lawwell’s meddling.

He wanted what is now Belgium’s first choice RB, got given Tolijan on loan. Wanted the now captain for high flying Aston Villa, got Mulumbu on a free. There’s many more examples.

His recruitment was spot on in his first season. I really doubt he was willingly knocking back £5m+ players in favour of crap from Aberdeen in his second.

It’s the one thing that gives me a bit of comfort in terms of his transfer record, which wasn’t great. We were linked with highly rated players who went on to become very good players, but seemed unable to get them over the line. The McGinn fiasco wouldn’t * me off no end if I was in Rodgers shoes tbh.

Anyway, he’s not my first choice. With the emergence of the Spanish guy he’s not even my second choice, but he is a capable manager who would likely continue the success we’ve had recently, if nothing else.

Not being obtuse... But could someone give me some examples of a previously successful manager RETURNING to a club and achieving comparable success again?

Why do people think he'll be a success?. Could easily go the other way, he hasn't improved as a manager or his style of play from what I've seen since he left.
Too many seem obsessed with success atm to the point of going back to a manager we had years ago cos he was a success then.
If we lose a few players 1st team and fringe it would be a mini rebuild and i wouldn't have much faith in him to do that tbh.
