    Of course it’s a fallacy.

    There’s some who don’t have a problem with a failed Parma manager or Mumbai City’s head coach becoming manager, simply because they’re in the City Group.

    Outside of Manchester City, not one City Group team has done anything of note, nor have they produced anyone of note.

    In fact, the supposed heir to Guardiola, Vincent Kompany, has managed Anderlecht and Burnley - two teams not in the City Group.

    It’s a marketing tool.

    Not bothered to look into it in too much detail, but Melbourne City, Yokohama F Marinos, New York City, and Mumbai City have all won leagues since they became part of the City Group. I'm not sure what you class as "something of note" but I don't know how they could do much more than winning their top leagues.

    They also pretty much across the board do this playing a certain type of modern, progressive attacking football. They employ coaches who play this way.

    I'm not going to say anymore because frankly I don't want to put it on a pedestal, but to suggest that their clubs haven't done anything of note is simply wrong.
