Again, the only "links" to Buckingham are that he was apparently pictured at Glasgow airport. We've been linked to a lot of managers recently, yet people are fully focusing on the worst link.

Part of the City Group. Managing Mumbai City in India. Managed in Australia previously. Seen coming off a flight to Glasgow.

Meant to be highly regarded but doesn't have much of the way of experience. More likely that he would be a number 2 and not a manager.

With Champions League football at stake it's not. A 19 game winning streak doesn't sound like great prep for taking a team jnto the UCL where they will be underdogs in every game and need to be strong defensively. The all guns blazing approach of Ange got us 2pts, last place and no Europa. We can't go 3 seasons on the trot achieving nothing in Europe if we want to seriously be seen as a good prospect for upcoming young talents.

We've done 3 seasons at least without achieving anything in Europe

I have horrible, horrible feeling it's Maresca or Buckingham.

It makes the most "sense" for a board that has previous in making negligent decisions.

Even more imperative then that we get a pragmatic coach that can do fast possesion football domestically but switch to quick counter attack football in Europe. Plus a coach who has experience of being up against it and having to fight for every win and managing under pressure.

    * this "yeah we lost but we played good for 50 mins" mindset. We need to start winning games in the UCL again and I don't care how we do it tbh.

Exactly. Rarely do we ever build from a position of strength. Tend to go for the big appointment after getting skelped and embarrassed.
I just really hope that with ange leaving us in such a healthy position and that maybe Desmond is a bit miffed he might actually try go bigger.
It can bite you on the * but we need to get someone in who won't rock the boat too muc in terms of philosophy

Aside from Lennon second time around, when was the last time you could call a manager appointment negligent, Barnes?

    We are Celtic Football Club

One of the biggest and most historical clubs in the world.

We are a club that demands success

We will be straight into the Champions League group stages next season.

We shouldn't be scraping the barrel for the likes of Maresca, McKenna and * Buckingham!!!!!

    We deserve better!!!!

Buckingham was poached by the City Group after becoming the youngest ever A-League manager, taking over a team bottom of the table and taking them to safety.

I think the CFG works a wee bit like your average agency - they have talent scouts out and about and try and sign up the young talent they think will have a big future and who fits their "brand".

Des Buckingham will not be our next manager anyway. He may join as an assistant or coach, but even that would surprise me.

No doubt he's a talent and one to keep an eye on though.
