Who could we replace Ange with?

I do think it's too early for him. Given he's just had success in his first proper managerial role I'd be surprised if he was coming here as an assistant. Maybe just interviewing?

Didn’t Owen Coyle win that league before he took over QP? And Greg Stewart is seen as a superstar over there.

He might have something and be coming in as coach/assistant but even our board aren’t stupid enough to give him the top job…

Surely with his City Group links it means Maresca as manager with him as number 2.

We wont be approaching City for Maresaca until after the champs league final so makes sense to get his assistant in for talks.

 

Would be silly to bring him in as part of coaching set up without first appointing a manager, no? Seems strange we would try set up a coaching team without having the main man in place. Unless, like I fear, we are bringing in another from the City Group in Maresca.

This is a test for the board too. They need to show they're being diligent and proactive, properly researching and interviewing folk. No just Lawells little black book of City group contacts.

Transfers is another worry. We were swift and quiet about our business past 2 years. We gonna revert to being slow and reactive as before.

We're in a good strong position, but they can't revert back. They need to get this right by being thorough.

 

I don't think so, I think he won a cup. But aye, the point stands. Like with anything though, it's the context that matters, not just the achievement. Ange is a better candidate than Lennon because of everything else he brings, even though they both won trebles.

FWIW I don't think Buckingham is ready yet but he definitely seems to have something about him. Youngest ever A-League manager taking over a side bottom of the league and keeping them up. Breaking all records with the New Zealand youth teams, breaking records in India. Plays football the right way.

 

Thinking about it I actually wouldn’t be surprised if he’s replacing Coyle at QP either.

Can’t really see anybody they’d go for in Scotland.

Not going to start panty wetting quite yet. I think if it's Maresca with Buckingham as his number 2, it's complete and utter mismanagement from the board.

Especially when we know that there are guys who want the job with bags of experience.
