Might sound petty but him setting up his laptop for a zoom interview with Spurs while still employed by us gives me the boak.

I'm sure most are aware of this however when you are spouting * and leading folk up the garden path you are not being professional just 2 faced and dishonest.

Still be professional yes but it’s difficult to say you’re focused on a job when you’re spending time planning your exit for another.

He was asked if he’d spoken to his representatives about Spurs and replied “No. I know you find that surprising, but I haven’t spoken to them about a million other things going on here as well…”

If that’s true, then it’s truly amazing that they held talks for the first time, then signed and sealed a 4-year contract, and finally worked a deal with Celtic - all in under 48 hours.

Then you’ve also got the repeated pounding of the badge whilst walking around Hampden, which resulted in a euphoric roar from the crowd that only an idiot would take as anything other than the support viewing that as an act of him saying he’s staying.

As long as it wasn't time he should have been on the training pitch or fulfilling other club duties, no problem. No manager works for a club 24/7. There is nothing to suggest that he didn't work extremely hard in bringing us the success we experienced under him.

He was clear when Juranovic left about his feelings on player's and manager's careers, and taking opportunities when afforded to them. I'm gutted he's not still here, but all the best and we move on. Both Knutsen or Iraola would be extremely exciting appointments IMO.

Right so a guy who wants to continue to focus on the task at hand is not giving anything away to the media. Big deal. He has no obligation to reveal what his plans are to anyone and folk within the game hold things back all the time. When a player is asked about an upcoming derby match, but we have an easier game before against the likes of St.Mirren, do folk really believe the players are solely focused on the next game and not thinking about the derby?

He didn't do a deal in under 48 hours.

Pounding what badge? He was wearing a suit. :giggle1:

Do we know if it’s true that he only informed the board about his intention to quit on Saturday night?
If he’s under contract he shouldn’t be doing interviews for other jobs without the club’s permission.

It’s also not just about this. It’s about that he’s gone, Spurs have their man, they are preparing for next season with transfers in and out and they have certainty to move forward.

If he had let the club know, we could have started our own process, but he was only looking out for himself, foot in both camps and that has left us behind the 8 ball.

We’ve now got to find a manager, then when that happens we’ve got to sound them out about transfers. So while Ange is sunning himself up in Greece, the club is working its backside off, the new manager is working their backside off, all because of the one selfish choice by Ange.

For those who say well that’s football or what happens if he doesn’t get the job, well we continue on with Ange because it was a good opportunity for him to explore and then sign him to a new contract.

Hardly ‘not giving anything away’, he explicitly stated he hadn’t spoke to his representatives about Spurs.

Had Spurs not been churning out leaks to their go-to media guys, the story would likely have died after that quote from Ange.

Tbf mate I was quite vocal on here as far back as Thursday in saying that I was 100% sure he was offski.

He played it well, but I'd say only a fool would imagine Ange was in it for the long haul as soon as Spurs came sniffing about. He was always going. But yes he would have known by Friday so he was quite literally lying to the support.

On Saturday anyone with half a brain could've told you he was gone by the way he was acting pre and post match, not to mention the footage of DD and Lawwell at the game. That image will live long in the memory and painted a thousand words.

Just seems like fans are only happy if a manager never leaves.

Looking for a new job requires effort and time at the best of times... being head hunted still requires a certain level effort on the potential new employee.

Nothing is turned around quickly, the media will report it in one way but there is zero chance Ange was going off puffing his feathers at Spurs whilst Celtics board just sat about knowing nothing... they'd have been approached by Spurs and they would would have agreed for things to progress... Spurs won't have been swanning about tapping up our manager without the club consent.

And when deals like this are going to cost millions they take time, people are acting shocked that this has been ongoing for weeks.

    * me man, I was hired for a role paying £26k and it took over a month to finalise.

Honestly as the days go by, this forum is getting more and more petty.

He's always spoken in way that has always strictly been about business.

I don't doubt he felt a personal connection between himself and the fanbase so his celebrations would have been heartfelt imo.

But if people want to make him out like he's the second coming of Rodgers and * he'd spout to make themselves feel better and then start making up * about how he was no good anyway.

    Then crack on.

I’m torn a bit on this one. I don’t think he could have said much else in the build up to the final if truth be told. However, going by his own standards in terms of if you don’t want to be here there is the door, I can fully understand the anger shown by some.

I couldn’t care how he gets on at Spurs, it won’t put me up or down either way. I do think it will end in tears however.

We are in a fantastic position just now though, and are a very attractive proposition for a new manager. Get the appointment right, and we won’t be bothering about Ange.

Not sure what he was supposed to do in that last week. Had a job to do and a game to win.

Interesting in that Athletic article it quoted Slot as saying he decided to stay because he wanted to play CL next season, had a good set up at Feyenoord with people he liked.

Maybe a reflection Ange was more ambitious/ruthless. Tbh I think back in Feb Ange meant what he said that he may be at Celtic longer than people expected because I don’t think he thought any top 6 English team would come for him. Probed too much of al lure in the end. May never have got another chance.

I think if a manager leaves a club in a much better state than when he got there then there’s not much to complain about. It took a huge offer for him to leave.

The club will still have the same list of transfer targets, and whoever the new manager is will have their say on them.

We don't know that he didn't let the club know last week or sooner.

When you look at the full press conference, he's answering to no conversation about Spurs last week.
    https://www.heraldscotland.com/news/23562335.every-word-ange-postecoglou-said-tottenham-celtic/

So, no conversation about Spurs this week?

“No. I know you find that surprising. I haven’t spoken to them [my representatives] about a million other things going on here as well. It’s not just about me. This football club is planning for next year, planning to bring players in. There is a full range of conversations going on, but my focus is on making sure we win a game of football which is very, very important to us.”
    Ange has handled himself impeccably.

What badge was he pounding at Hampden btw?

Oh *, I’m out - not having a banal argument about whether or not he repeatedly thumped the left side of his chest walking around Hampden. You must’ve been too tied up with the Manchester Derby celebrations to have seen it.

    Cringe.
