Good thing about it is if it is him, Mark Lawwell will probably be involved as he's worked with him before and hes probably the guy who knew about and recommended Postecoglou to us as well so he must have a decent eye for a manager and seen the way Maresca works and thinks he'd do a job as well.

Stephen McGowan has reported it in The Mail, and he's pretty much Lawwell's guy in the media...

    Knutsen
    Potter
    Gallardo
    Maresca

That should be the order of priorities.

Knutsen will be tough to get now Ajax are in talks.

Potter would cost the most but reckon he’d be very successful here.

Gallardo probably least likely to happen since he wants to take a break from coaching.

Maresca would be a big risk, no 2 ways about it.

Is he that sort of bloke though?

I’m not sure. Doesn’t strike me as DOF material. Certainly not on the recruitment/scouting side of things.

Are you thinking mentoring an inexperienced manager until they find their feet sort of gig?

I don’t think O’Neill would provide much substance these days tbh. It would come across as an uninspired, nostalgic appointment.

What crisis? We’re in a fantastic position as a club. Just need to make an intelligent choice for our next gaffer…. Simple as.

No chance ? We literally had him in the building and interviewed him about this very job before. He is very obviously in contention.

Yeah maybe DoF isn't the right title but if we are taking a punt on Maresca who better to mentor him than MoN. We will also need a proper and experienced DoF now Ange is away no idea who that could be though. Ideally you would want a DoF already in place so they could chose the manager but Ange could of * us there by refusing to work with one (and will now have to work with one at THS pmsl)

They're all a big risk, have they got the personality, will they settle in Scotland/Glasgow and have they even got the bottle for that, are they actually good enough managers tactically, how good are they in the transfermarket and all that.

Potter is the one i'd write off just peronality wise, his * collapsed at Chelsea and would do the same here. Imagine huns pestering him every time he is out with abuse and all that he seems too quiet.

Would gladly take Moyes if Maresca was the only other option.

Unless there's some vaild reasons for his spell in Italy going pear shaped. Sounds like he was in the same position with them as we are in Scotland, blowing teams out the water financially, and completely flopped. Doesn't sound too promising.

I don’t know why MON’s being thrown about for anything.

He’s been out the game far too long to be a director of football. He clearly shouldn’t be the manager.

    It’s crazy stuff.

Aye the positives would be that it wouldn't be mish mash trying to get it all together..

    The links are already there..

My top 2 candidates right now though would be Potter and Muscat. The latter just makes sense and would be easy to get in..

We want to carry on what's been started and improve on it. He's been doing that and they play great stuff. Was a protege of Ange and knows his style inside out..

    * no.

MON is out of touch with everything good in modern football. Legend but people need to move on.

I’m trying not be negative about Maresca but his comments about his time at Parma worried me. He said he was shocked to be let go and expected to get way more time to top Serie B..

I'd rather have Maresca than Muscat if we are going down the "maintaining the style" route.

At the end of the day Mark Lawwell knows him a * of a lot better than you or I and that’s what will get him an interview, if he wants one. He got it right with Ange and we’ve just got to hope he gets it right this time round (if he’s given the chance).

That’s not so say we want to hire him or he will be hired, but his name is in the hat.

Our managerial candidates list is a bit like the Paddy Roberts, Finnbogason, De La Pena player links of transfer windows past.

He's actually gone away to other countries, carried it on and won things though in his own right..

Maresca so far is just an excellent assistant..

I wouldn’t judge him on his Chelsea tenure, he got given a massive squad full
of egos that was in a mess with little time to work with.

Doubt he’d jump back in this quick anyway to be honest but I think he’d be brilliant here.
