I'm obviously in the small minority here but I'm excited by Maresca.

Not going to lie, bit disappointed that it seems to be someone who has never successfully been a manager (Maresca). Still, I was disappointed when we appointed Ange, so hopefully I'm just as wrong about Maresca.

It's great that we don't have early euro qualifiers as well. Takes a wee bit of pressure off the new manager & gives valuable time to focus on molding the team.
That being said, the earlier we can get the right manager in the better.
He'll be afforded some time to get things going ..but we can't drop too many points in the league at the start, or the pressure will truly be on.

By all accounts, not just tabloid filth, but from his family back home, Rodgers does want a sabbatical and would only reverse that decision if an exceptional offer came - meaning EPL.

Same, I'm apprehensive. Sometimes no.2's are best when they are assisting.
The Parma spell makes me worry but I have no idea what that clubs circumstances were at the time.

Here's a scary and altogether annoying thought.

The amount of managers, since yesterday, that will have been sounded out by their agents, not only about possibly taking the Celtic job, but also already looking at a potential exit route from a job the haven't been offered yet.

According to most the circumstances were.. he spent more money than the other clubs combined and still managed to get sacked before Halloween

He spent a small fortune, so it certainly wasn't money-orientated.

He got a very average Ireland team to the last 16 of the Euros in 2016.

What has Maresca achieved by way of comparison?

O’Neill looks very trim and fit in interviews. Still very sharp and passionate about the game. Doesn’t look his age at all to me.

Much better pedigree in the game than Maresca. Knows our club and the expectations too. Wouldn’t be a bad appointment for me anyway.

Lennon in the showers should scare you more and shows you what this board are capable of.

And the same with Lennon, questions have to asked what manager options are being discarded this time because of our links to the City Group..

He said he wouldn't take it even if offered so you can drop the MON stuff.

Not really, he’s rated very highly and was seriously considered a couple of years ago. His added experience since, coupled with Arteta’s success, will add more weight this time around.

I do think Knutsen will prove out of reach though, as we’re behind Ajax in the queue. And I think Potter will be out of reach financially.

Maresca isn't a risk we need to take.

He was poor at at Parma. You could argue his style didnt mesh with them but still. I get that because he's part of city group he'd continue the style, but we're an attractive outfit currently. Don't mind us talking to Maresca but he can't be first choice.

About £20m net spend. They had previously spent £100m the season before, though.

He already ruled himself out of the job. He has zero interest in taking over our club again and I doubt you will ever see him in management again and certainly not for a club of our size.

The game has changed. Move on.

    We’ll see…

    People say all sorts publicly.
