Might be worth a punt. Well liked by DD and the board.

    Much better option than Maresca.

    Major gamble if it's Maresca..

One we don't need to take. Will probably be exciting though..

Just back whoever it is to the hilt. With the money we'll have and him and Lawwell jnr's city links.....we should be able to go out and do some quality business and loan to buys..

Maresca will be a cheap.and absolutely unnecessary appointment.

We've never been in such a strong position when appointing a manager, to go and hire a project would be disgraceful.

If it’s maresca it’s because all the other candidates are out of reach

Absolute joke he's even been considered going on his record of 14 games at Parma.

We all know why he's been considered.. City group end of.. absolute diddy behaviour

Manchester City are braced to receive an official approach from Celtic to speak with coach Enzo Maresca, Football Scotlandunderstands.

The 43-year-old was interviewed for the Hoops job before Ange Postecoglou was hired back in 2021 and was one who impressed Dermot Desmond before the shareholder ultimately plumped for the Australian. Celts, though, have continued to follow Maresca's career and are understood to be interested in speaking with him again after Postecoglou's move to Tottenham was confirmed this morning

Football Scotland can reveal that staff at the Etihad are expecting the Hoops to return for the Italian who knocked back an offer from Southampton only a few short weeks ago.

Maresca has been working closely with Pep Guardiola at the club and will be preparing for this weekend's Champions League final vs Inter Milan.

But it is believed that Celtic will make tentative contact this week with a view to discussing his potential future in further detail once that match in Istanbul has been and gone

He is the obvious option considering he almost got it last time round and is still a no 2. Knows the system , can work with the players and will be able to pick up where ange left off. It's like trying to continue the same project.

Maybe Maresca is one of the six candidates @McGrory1888 was talking about?

It would make sense considering he did say we’d be approaching their club about speaking with them.

This is why I can't get angry at decent managers ditching us.

Everything is ad hoc, there is no coherent plan or structure.

The same people who foisted Lennon upon us in 2019 are still in situ.

    Nothing ever changed.

Two years ago I feel people would have taken Maresca before Ange, both were seen as unproven quantities. If it's him I'll get behind the appointment, I trust the club have seen/heard enough to believe he's a good coach and I'd rather take a punt than go for a completely unoriginal choice like Rodgers or * forbid MON which is just going backwards.

It's gonna be hard for anyone following on

A manager that's good with the media and gives them nothing
Who the players buy in to fully
That trusts his own principles 100% and doesn't change from it, even when under pressure
Getting most of the recruitment spot on
    A complete winner
    Loads and loads of experience

Maresca doesn't strike me as a guy who will have a lot of them as his own man. That's just some of the things we're losing above....and it's a lot. You'd be hoping the next boss would have some of those credentials..

The board putting out wee * bits to * off fans and then that brings most of them back round to the idea of bringing back St. Brendan

I will always back the new manager but if it is Maresca that is one * of a risk. It would be a really difficult sell and he would need to hit the ground running. Obviously he is highly regarded as an assistant and he may well be destined- like Arteta for bigger things. But Celtic is a different animal. You need to be 100% sure of yourself coming to Celtic. Experience in handling high pressure consistently where a loss is seen as a disaster. You have to be someone who has been around the block. Rookies don't tend to work at a club like Celtic, it would be a really big call to appoint Maresca.
