Even if we were dead set on Maresca (which I have no idea if the board are), we couldn’t sit on our hands until next week to speak to him. We’d be moving things along with others so that we have a full picture of options (in much the same way Spurs have).

The onus on a Celtic Manager is to perform from the off. Ange had a rough start with 3 losses in his first 6 games, it wasn't a terrible thing then because we'd be so * the season before and there was a clear change and setting the squad then. We then went on a massive unbeaten run domestically and just kicked on from there with a clear unity and style.

Coming in this season after 2 seasons of massive success, it has to be success from the start that builds from what we have. If we go to turgid defensive * it's not going to cut it. We have been establishing an ethos and brand of football through all levels thats seen success at all levels. We can't just be going to try and set an entirely new and different kind of football. We need to be firing from the off, you don't get the forgiving start here you might elsewhere.

I would like us to get someone with a track record of success, that can take what's here and build on it, not reset it to a completely different thing. I'm not saying come and try and play the same but you don't do a 180 tactically. I would not want to see someone looking to cut their teeth like Maresca, worked with pep isn't success itself, aye he will have contributed to it but he's not the man in charge driving things he's implementing someone else's vision.

I would say we should have a a DoF in to maintain the identity across levels but get that in after a manger and the first team set.

Respect? I have a hunch as to where that club is. I'm just hoping it's not us going for one particular manager from that league.

I have a hunch you’re incorrect haha. I could only name one particular manager from that league though to be fair…

I'm basing my hunch on the use of the word by some people when describing our dealings with clubs from that part of the world.

If it's not that geographic area, okay.

See this is the thing, WBA had no right to be in 24th in a particularly weak championship. The points to finish in the top 6 was 69, that’s the second lowest point’s required to reach the top 6 since 95/96. So Corberan had a low total to shoot for and just missed, good for him, but your remarks on the squad being cobbled together imo are way off.

The thing was he rose up into the top 6 soon after taking over because the difference when they were last to top 6 was approximately 10 points, he got the new manager bounce and then faltered in the last part of the year. Look at what AP did in his first year, he had an injury crisis and kicked on. That’s the difference.

Don’t get me wrong, I think he’s a very promising manager, but he doesn’t fit the Celtic way imo. He’s too pragmatic, too boring and fans will want rid of him. I just don’t see him being a fit here for league football. I’ve watched his stuff and it’s horrible to watch.

    * no. But I think @McGrory1888 has ruled out that club being from the J-League. I'd have taken Hasegawa as being worthy of a 6-man list.

Moyes is on par with him. Knutsen more promising, but with less reputation.

Out of curiosity, is your issue with Muscat his rangers background or his managerial ability? Genuine question, I have very little knowledge about him other than he’s followed in Ange’s shoes with some success.
