It's a risk, no doubt mate. People would be clamoring for Xabi Alonso now though, but 12 months ago he was similarly untested but hailed by other managers.

I understand why people would be worried about Maresca, but I think there's a lot of potential upsides to him. My biggest worry with him would be a potential lack of mental strength and ability to deal with the pressure here - you never know how new managers are going to deal with that.

Also, on his time at Parma - who knows what squad he inherited. He'd be coming in here with a group of players already used to his style of play, would probably make it a lot easier for him to get his ideas across.

Corberan is very adaptable though, he set up defensively with WBA in games where they couldn't dominate and set up more attack minded against teams they could dominate, which is what we need in Europe. He was also working with what Steve Bruce left him with which was a squad of unfit, lazy players which consisted of a player Bruce recruited because he was his neighbour and one was his son in laws pal. They also had no investment in January and a massive injury pile and he still got WBA up into contention for play offs until the last game from being rock bottom when he came in. That's some feat and to achieve it you have to not only be astute tactically but also excellent at motivating your squad. I don't doubt if WBA had acted quicker in sacking Bruce Corberan would have got them into the play offs with room to spare.

He is an appointment I could really get behind but think he is destined for the Leeds job.

I thought it was a fantastic read.

What I took out of it was the same, opps we're starting to read his game, but in addition, his squad had been gutted, so there was no real avenue for him other than to play a way he didn't agree with.

    I'm busting a * to get him in .

They were one of the best squads in the Championship last year and he was getting them to perform to their ability. Rogic didn’t even get a run with them, Corberan doesn’t know how to use a player like Tom. To say they had no investment in January is not really cutting it to be honest. They should have finished top 6 with or without investment.

I agree he’s adaptable, but * me his football is so boring and frustrating to watch. He’d set us up with 11 behind the ball v St Mirren away. I don’t want that after what we’ve seen these last 2 years.

    Bruce was useless.

He can only be judged at Parma since that's his only job so far. By all accounts he had a good squad with the likes of Buffon & Vasquez, challenging for promotion the minimum expectation. Instead he was sacked when they were midtable in November with a negative GD. How could we trust someone who's managerial career consists of 5 months underperforming at a lower league club?

Exactly If we appoint him it’s ending in disaster and would be a Terrible way to go the position we’re in we shouldn’t be employing him.

No doubt Leverkusen are not the force they were, but a 46 percent win ratio for them in the Bundesliga under Seoane, imo IS shocking.

Especially considering your point that he had them finishing third the season before.

It would appear, he wasn't working miracles, rather doing what was expected, until the * fell out of it with their worst run since 1979.

The negative record supercedes the positive imo. A best finish for 7 years is certainly eclipsed by a worst start in 43 years.

For me, he goes in the "possibility" box.

Not the "get him in " box.

Are we booting out Maresca on the grounds of his Parma stint? Or just that he's an assistant?

You clocked nothing. You’re desperately clutching at straws.

You’ve just gone and further solidified the point I made.

Saying one extra defensive midfielder won’t solve our problems, is nothing remotely the same as suggesting that we didn’t need to sign a defensive midfielder or that “it wouldn’t have mattered”…

You’re trying (badly) to twist my words into something I never said to suit your own weak narrative.

I agreed that we needed a defensive midfielder, but disagreed with you about how big an impact that player would make on their own without also changing our tactical approach. You were making it almost entirely about players, while I disagreed and felt the problems were deeper than just players.

How the * you’re managing to twist that into me saying a defensive midfielder “wouldn’t have mattered” is beyond me… either you’re not the sharpest knife in the drawer or you’re being deliberately obtuse to suit your halfbaked argument…?

Why don’t you quote the rest of my comments…? If you have the balls.

As regards the rest of your comment, not even worth replying to. Again, just shows how desperate you’re now getting… you’re as bad as that lector’s luncheon poster, who calls everyone a Hun if he doesn’t like/agree with their opinion. lol

Ange had a track record before he came to us at least he had won stuff and managed at a World Cup. Maresca has done nothing in management other than getting sacked by Parma.

Hardly a great advertisement for this job and not someone we should be employing it’s mental that people are even considering him hes not qualified in the slightest to manage us

It’s both for me. It’s proven time and time again, successful assistants don’t always make top managers. To me, we are in such a great position that it’s an unnecessary risk.

Aye a talented squad who had been cobbled together and coached by Steve * Bruce which means they weren't being coached at all. You can have all the talent in the world but if you aren't fit then in a tough physical league like that it counts for nothing. Steve brought in random players with no tactical plan in mind, there was no cohesion and no rhyme or reason to his recruitment. It was a hodge podge squad. That's what Corberan was working with and he had to do it starting from rock bottom. Their injury crisis at the end of the season was so bad that he was having to put Tam on the bench even though Tam himself was injured, that is how few squad options there were. He didn't use Tam well but Tams fitness never really recovered from whatever went on with him over last summer and again because of injuries CC was having to ask lots of players to play out of position. Of course Tam isn't a utility player so it didn't work well, but there were also few other options.

A team who were 24th in November really had no place finishing top 6, to claim otherwise is ridiculous. Corberan only missed out on getting them there by a baw hair.

Whoever comes in will need to be a manager who plays on the front foot. Wether we get an all out attacker or a more balanced play through the middle type manager the remit will always be for good football.

whoever we do get I hope it’s sooner rather than later, this month preferably and that they have been a manager that’s has been successful in their own right it doesn’t mean major trophies but taken a team upwards. Some European competition experience would be a bonus.

I have 3 Choices “Potter” as I believe before Chelsea he was a good manager and successful at two clubs, improving them also the Chelsea experience will have taught him a lot

my others are a bit wild Domenec Torrent was Pep assistant at 3 clubs Barca, Bayern, Man City, was manager at New York City, Flamenco and Galatasari didn’t do to well at galatasari but I don’t think many do well there.

the third is Kennedy & Kewell to team up with someone like MON as mentor.
