Potter would be an unbelievable appointment IMO if you could somehow manage it.

Not a manager on the planet will do anything with that yank captaining the ship at Chelsea. Hence the reason he’s stepped down from operations.

Truth is had he not went to Chelsea he wouldn’t be a realistic option for us, they forked out 30 million for him and his staff literally in September. A managerial version of big Sutton really.

One sticking point right enough is Billy Reid is his long time right hand man…

A bigger sticking point is the money he's still getting paid from chelsea. That will stop when he takes on a new job and don't think the money we will be offering would come close to covering it

He’s not getting paid a dime by Chelsea currently, he was sacked and paid off.

Nah he's a no from me.

Apparently John Percy is saying Maresca is under consideration at Leicester so hopefully this is coming from an agent and not Celtic

I'd be intrigued by Maresca, but understand people's reservations. Did poorly at Parma.

I had read few folk on here saying he was still on gardening leave but if what ur saying is true then certainly makes him an easier option.

That would be a real concern for me with Potter. I am not saying he is one of those arrogant condescending English * who think Celtic is a step down from anything in their beloved epl but I would worry that he is.

And I said it wasn’t just about players, a major factor was the tactics and shape. We were too loose and open to get results against stronger opposition.

I never disagreed that we needed a more defensive minded player in the midfield, like you suggested I did.

I disagreed about the level of impact such a player could make on their own, without also altering the tactical approach.

You’ve tried to make out that I didn’t think we needed a defensive midfielder or I didn’t see value in signing one, and you were wrong. I said nothing of the sort.

In that respect definitely but there will still be an almighty drop in wages for him, he was on a million quid a month!

The ideal candidate may be someone with aspirations to manage in the EPL.

Maresca feels like too much of a gamble..

We're in a position of strength here with plenty to offer. I'd imagine plenty of very good coaches (probably more than usual)will be putting their names out there for it..

No excuses here. Get a quality guy in and back him all the way..

I stand corrected so. Still much preferred the style and genuine attacking threat that DeZebri's Brighton has compared to Potter and obviously qualifying them for European for the first time ever and getting so close to only their second FA Cup Final is very impressive results wise too.

Pay for quality, it's always worth it in the long run, show a bit of ambition, we are an attractive proposition for any manager.
