I doubt he is, if he was I think we would have seen it by now.
Not everyone wants to be a manager anyway. Good coaches and good managers aren't the same thing

Idk, I think under different circumstances he may have taken over after Lennon. A successful time under Ange might be the thing to get him the gig, continuity and all that

Callum McGregor has no doubt that John Kennedy will go onto a forge a fine career in management when the Celtic assistant steps out on his own two feet – but the Parkhead captain hopes that day remains some way off in the distance.

Kennedy has been an important member of the club’s backroom staff for years and his success on the training pitch has earned him a reputation as one of Scotland’s most promising up-and-coming coaches.

The 39-year-old is said to be a candidate to land the permanent Hearts job – current boss Steven Naismith is occupying the dugout on an interim basis – and while McGregor is convinced that Kennedy has the makings of an excellent manager, he is keeping his fingers crossed that the former defender won’t be temped to make the short journey along the M8 anytime soon

Can I understand why clubs would look at him? Absolutely,” McGregor said. “John has been a massive part of our success for many years.

“He has been a huge part of things under the gaffer and I am not surprised teams are looking to take him.

“Selfishly, we want to keep him for as long as we can. A lot of the work John does goes under the radar but the people at the club understand his value as an assistant manager.

“I am sure he will go on to be a top manager too as he’s been outstanding, but hopefully we can keep him for as long as possible.”

Good luck to the guy if he goes, would actually prefer the new guy to bring in his own backroom team.

Wouldn't blame him if he does, takes an unreasonable amount of * from our fans. If his plan was to be manager one day he won't manage it staying after his interim role in the covid season, fans would never allow it

I've given him dogs abuse in the past, but there's no doubt he is highly thought of within the confines of CP.

Almost every manager and player has given him a lot credit, we as fans literally know nothing about hs ability as a coach except from what others have said about him

I think most of the criticism he came in for was because of how he performed as assistant manager under Lennon. He seemed to have more responsibility than ever and we were pretty poor in that period tactically.

Wrong? Maybe, but I think characterising it as random hate based on hee-haw is unfair on people. Suffice to say Kennedy was getting a chunk of the credit when things were going well under Lennon.

From my side, if Ange rates him as a coach then that’s enough for me.

If he wants to progress, he has to become a manager somewhere. I suppose going to a different club as an assistant is OK too. One day, he may earn the right to lead us.

I got worried when it said the Celtic hierarchy were trying all they can to keep him as I don’t think he is the right manager to takeover just now.

Likewise I wouldn’t begrudge him the move, he’s constantly praised by players here for his input and has been here a while now.

You just have to scroll to the top of the page and the poll results to see what he owes us for our loyalty!

Few more fickle or demanding than a football fan.
