The summer after Rodgers went to Leicester, they approached us with an interest in signing McGregor. They were told, at Desmond’s request, not to pick up the phone again until they had a new manager.

I believe things cooled off around the time of Billy McNeil’s death though and Desmond extended an olive branch and told Rodgers he’s always welcome back.

Moyes got to a European semi last year? And is in a final this year. He did well at Everton but it would mean gutting our team and starting again so nah.

Fuxake. I thought there was no chance in * BR could come back. That was a comforting, but seemingly false belief.:55:

I think in a lot of ways it will depend on the fan backlash to the Ange news. If there’s uproar, the club can’t go back to Rodgers (who the fans believe * us over far worse than Ange has).

If not outright uproar, there's a deathly depression. Life's been sucked out of those who idolized Ange. From a business perspective, the new manager should bring a buzz.

I'd personally settle for Moyes (chance of doing damage in Europe) if the exciting names don't come up (Knutsen, Papszun, Glasner). Has he ever been seriously considered for a managerial role by DD/Lawwell before, or were bookies putting him in the mix just because he's been with the club long ago?

Absolutely, 100%. There were a series of meetings up to and including the start of last week in which Ange was heavily involved in planning for the future, as well as talks over a new contract.

At no point was any suggestion made that there was even a chance he wouldn’t be at the helm going into next season.

I think the thing is we always knew that Rodgers was a self-serving egotist. I rated him as a coach, but not as a person. In fact, I stopped listening to any of his press conferences months before he left as I just couldn’t take to the guy.

    I expected better from Ange.

That's f*cked up. No wonder he looked guilty as sin all day Saturday, especially next to MON.

What a scunner knew he was ambitious but thought he at least had some integrity.

Many expected better from Ange. I knew he wasn't a Celtic fan, but I thought he was at least rational- and would look to build his CV up by proving he can hack it in Europe, and only then try himself at the EPL deathrace. Nope. He's about to jump off a cliff.

    Pretty uninspiring tbh.
What about Knutsen, he was 9/1 when I checked last night?
