In general everything has came from the English press

While the press in Scotland hasn’t really had much a sniff of this

Well, let's make Ange Postecoglou act like Brendan Rodgers and see:

At the start of the year, it was rumoured that he tried to go to Qatar or Saudi Arabia for mega bucks but it was blocked. It also turned out he'd always been a massive Celtic fan even in the womb. It even seems that everyone from former Celtic legends to random old ladies had been approaching him to tell him how he had changed their lives. Match preparation wasn't quite to the same standards as the previous season. Results were still OK but we weren't doing as well and we weren't pulling away from GVB's struggling Rangers. In September, Brighton approached and Ange was keen; but it fell through as De Zerbi became available. Ange seemed to take the huff a bit and match preparation lapsed even more.

Meanwhile Ange's mate who was running our scouting network on the back of bits of scrap paper continued to dismantle it at full pace. In the New Year game, Rangers gave us a bit of a doing TBH. Around February, Leeds came in for him and he was away. Neil Lennon took over till the end of the season, but was unable to catch Rangers, who were by now on a bit of a run under Michael Beale.

Shortly after leaving, Ange took the sports science staff with him. He approached John Kennedy too but was rebuffed. The atmosphere by now was pretty toxic and the * really hit the fan when Rangers dumped Lenny's team out of the Scottish Cup SF. Around the same time, it emerged that Ange had been trying to turn CM's head with talk of the EPL and his form took a dip although Ange never formally made a bid for him. Rangers went on to win a double and guaranteed CL football and there were nasty scenes outside CP on the final day of the season. The board don't know how much we can spend on a new manager or on players as we don't know if we will have CL football. We will have to sell before we can buy...

    It's not remotely the same.

People seem to forget Rodgers fell out with his boss Lawell. Lawell was clearly undermining BR, the Shved signing the highlight of it all. Both PL and BR openly sniping at each other via the press. It was bad.

But there are absolutely similarities there with both these departures. Timing wasn't great granted, but is the timing better now. Nah, not really. It may be the end of the season, but plans / signing were under way under Ange for next season.

I probably see it differently as I wasn't surprised at Rodgers going or the timing of it. Don't hate him for it but, don't want him back at the club in anyway either. But at least we got 9m for BR going.

Neither great circumstances and both could and should have played out better by all parties.

Hopefully Mikey Nicholson is as quick wi this appointment as he has been wi signings so far.

Edit: The falling out wi PL and BR started back at the season before Rodgers left. I'm actually surprised we made it till February 6 months later wi both those egos involved.

If anyone of us had a major falling out wi our boss and there was a way out, we'd take it. I'm sure my boss would as well if the company was to be handsomely rewarded for it also.

When you read articles on Kyogo, he always talks about wanting to improve, and studies Youtube for techniques in finishing and movement, to improve his overall contribution to the team.

Some of these millionaires in the EPL have made their money, and the ones who do put the work in, will be scouted by the top 4 down there. Ange may have his work cut out.

Heard that version too but also heard he was offered a better contract just not as much as he thought he was worth. Either way that would more be Nicholson than Ange.

That along with thinking he should play more and reports of his family not settling, and his agent agitating for a move meant he wanted to go. Liked the player but think he was much more behind the move than anyone else, Ange just cut him out after he did a couple of stupid social media posts, don't see it any more complicated than that. Again a situation where Ange's policy was broadly to not say anything.

Even if I didn’t agree with that I would still admit defeat. :giggle1:

It’s not remotely close to the Rodgers situation.

I'll be surprised if Kennedy goes with him he seems to have a job for life here and knocked Rodgers back

At least Kennedy won't be manager if he did. Big blow to the players that though. They seemed to enjoy working with the coaching staff

Probably know that they would be out of a job if they didn’t go with him. Changed times with a new manager coming in who will want to bring in their own back room team and that’s the way it needs to be.

And how many clubs our size offer rolling contacts to managers?

what was that contract offer the board made to Ange? Was it a good one? What assurances and guarantees have been made to him? You have no idea.

Lennon left first time round due to lack appropriate investment to take the team to the next level, so did BR. What makes you think the same hasnt happened again?

Spurs will have approached Ange with a package that has got his attention. He isnt away yet, the board and Desmond can still react.

Ange is 58 and has had to wait until this stage in his career for a big break. An opportunity to go to a club with the set up and resources might not come around again soon. Competition is fierce and he is hot property right now. I dont blame him if he was to go, but I would blame DD for not doing enough if he didnt push the boat out to keep him

I'll be more gutted if Kyogo left than Ange TBH.
