I know the way he left us was terrible and it’s hard to forgive him. But Rodger’s is the best manager on that list who we could get possibly. Is a big enough name and coaches players well. Some of them raved about him like Brown etc McGregor. Not saying I’d take him back but he’s the most qualified and biggest name potentially we could get

Why is he? The football was pish after his 1st season. He couldn't break teams down domestically. Couldn't win at the flaming Tony Macaroni stadium ffs. He fell out with players he fell out with the board. He was up against a * sevco. His transfers were terrible and he's sociopath. I don't get the clamour to have him back. It was toxic when he left

My biggest worry when Ange goes is that we’ll revert to inconsistent signings and trying to hold onto players too long.

So, whenever Ange leaves, the bigger job is making sure the recruitment and scouting team has a budget and experience to properly scout worldwide, particularly the far east markets. We also need to make sure we have the right environment in terms of liaison etc. for players coming in.

Second thing is we need to make sure any manager coming in understands that the way we will operate is constant turnover of players. Players who want to leave won’t be kept, but the upside to that is the recruitment team will always have better replacements lined up and ready to go, BEFORE we lose the player.

We need to make sure any candidate coming in is on board with this. It’s just been far too successful for us under Ange and a big departure from how we used to work.

Managers will come and go every 2-3 years, there’s no point resisting it. We need to get these longer term things right.

Spot on. So far it's been run very well. If we can keep that (and kind of have an Ajax system of slotting players in) it could work quite well.

Rodgers proved he can’t be trusted the way he ran the second an offer came in. Look to the future not the past

Even if he hadn't done a runner mid-season I wouldn't want him back anyway, his (and congerton's) recruitment was mostly pish, and outside of the first season the football wasn't that great, they left us in a weaker position than when they arrived, and that seems to be his pattern in every job.

No incoming manager, if he's in the quality category, can be trusted.

If you want someone long-term, you'll be scraping the bottom of the barrell and appointing the likes of Lennon.

Good managers just don't stick around.

Rodgers is the best available at the moment in terms of experience. However shelf life for any manager coming to Celtic is two years and three if lucky. Rodgers or otherwise

People should get used to having this discussion every 2/3 years if they want the team to be successful

I believe recruitment was poor board management and pushing him around like Deila and Lennon before him. Also a reason why he gave the middle finger and left.

Rodgers’ team stagnated massively in his last 12 months. His recruitment was, for the most part, awful and he ran players like KT into the ground as a result.

He played his part in our history but I don’t want him. Keeping Ange should be the number 1 choice. Knutsen if he’s off, but that’s a big doubt with Ajax sniffing around.

This is the ultimate thing, people have looked at him and Rodgers because they dominated. People didn't look at Lennon because despite no strong opposition he didn't win that much. He won 3 leagues and 2 cups first time round, only 3 of 6 when huns died.

I understand that but Rodgers had his chance and then ran away to Leicester leaving us in a bit of a * position and in the worst way possible.

Some of yous are fickle as * if you'll accept Rodgers back :56:

Not because he left or how it happened but because he's a narcissist who makes up stories.

he'd have a right hard time convincing the board, fans, media or players he was a beautiful human being and not a total slime ball for a second time.

The one thing I'd have loved to have happened with ange is that all coaches in the club from youth to first team, is that the philosophy would be ingrained.
Need to look at coaches who have a similar mantra

Unfortunately this is true. It's also why I've been saying for some time we need a director of football as there is likely going to be a high turnover of managers and we need continuity and stability through that.
