Europa League is more fun for me cos that's our level. Winning it and qualifying for the CL plus getting £40m for that would be the best!

    Dirty weeds!

Totally off topic but this was a great watch when the whole of Leeds came out to try and bash a 1000 Millwall fans! (have to watch in 5 min parts)

Potter could be tempted by UCL...He did great in Sweden (which got him the Brighton job) but probably not!

Bit of a mad left-field shout but was trawling through the City Group clubs and came across Des Buckingham: Des Buckingham - Wikipedia. Young manager, just started really, but seems to have something about him - his Mumbai team are the only Indian side to win a game in the ACL, and they actually qualified from their group. He just took them on a record-breaking run in India and won the league too, apparently playing typical CFG football.

Probably not the right time for him given how critical this appointment is but could be someone to keep an eye on in the future. BBC ran an article on him recently: Des Buckingham's journey to Mumbai City success - via Oxford United and Oceania - BBC Sport.

We'll probably give city a phone and they'll sort us out.

Desmond was here recently, probably wasn't a coincidence. I think they already have their shortlist or candidate already (guaranteed city group link). Expect the goodbyes to be quick and the excitement to build again for the CL when new man is announced in a few weeks.

We’ve been speaking with agents all week apparently so I’d imagine we’ll have a shortlist drawn up and Knutsen Rodgers and Muscat will definitely be 3 on it

I'd be happy with either Knutsen or Muscat.

The most important thing above all else for me is that we hire someone whose style is in the same mould as Ange. I'd take a slightly inexperienced manager whose philosophy matches over someone like a Moyes or Clarke who just wouldn't know what to do with this squad.

The bookies wil pump out a list full of the same tired old names like Moyes, but I don't think Nicholson and young Lawwell are that daft, especially with the latters city group experience I think it could be another one out of left field we don't know much about like Ange was.

Edit: It's a bit of a double-edged sword, but the lure of being on the EPL's doorstep and being able to get european experience could make us an attractive prospect for up and coming managers with something to prove the same way we are for players. We're in an ideal position really for anyone on an upward trajectory that's not already in the merry go round of the top leagues.

Disagree. A defensive tactics expert could help us overachieve in Europe.

I don’t want him as I think there are far better managers available, but I can certainly see the logic behind it.

Dismissing him as an option on the sole basis that he played for the huns a handful of times over the course of one season would be far too narrow-minded for me and against the way in which a modern football club should be running their operations.

    Just my 2 cents.

Moves asked about Celtic job. This is how your distance yourself from a job.

I’ve never even considered it. I’m West Ham manager and I’m really enjoying my period here. The club have been so good to me and we’re enjoying the journey we’re on here. I’m hopefully trying to continue growing a really good football club so I’ve not given it any consideration.

Ange didn't even come close to doing this.

Ange said he's not paying attention to any of it and he's focused on the game ahead, same as he always answers these kind of questions from the tabloids. I really don't understand why some of our fans suddenly expect him to change his approach when asked questions this week compared to any other time.

Because he took over a club probably left in pristine condition by Ange and won the J league? He was sacked after 6 months with Belgian no marks. I am looking at his wiki here and cannot see why anyone would think he is anywhere near qualified for the Celtic job. Is it because Ange was Yokohama manager so just go back to the well? Or am I missing something? The fact he is/was a hun is just the Cherry on top :giggle1:

A name that was popular when we got Ange that would still be a decent shout Jindrich Trpisovky from Slavia Prague. They came second on head to head this season so don’t have CL qualifiers even this year only Europa.

They consistently sign good players from markets we should target Eastern Europe, Scandinavian and others.

I like the sound of Iraola from Rayo Vallacano but not sure he would come.

Interesting that apparently Ajax are interested in Knutsen but again he would definitely be high on my list.
