Knutsen comes to mind immediately. Schooled Ange & Mourinho tactically with a team on a fraction of their budget.

Villas-Boas still out a job since resigning from the Ntcham signing debacle a few years back too.

No reason not too be ambitious, we're in a great position.

Seriously? I'd be * stoked if we managed to get Michel. His Girona team have been excellent this year.

He'd actually be my first choice but with the new deal he signed, I didn't think it would be possible. Which is why I would like to see us go for Knutsen.

Potter and Rodgers would also be decent appointments but Knutsen for me.

Knutsen for me. I’ve seen enough of what he’s done with Bodo to believe in him as a manager.

Will be gutted if Ange leaves though.

Another one for Knusten here. That Bodo team were absolutely superb when we played them. Guy clearly puts a good bit of emphasis on powerful players as well as technical ability, which is what we need to progress in Europe.

As much as Ange's football has bee a joy to watch, there were always a couple of wee blind spots he refused to acknowledge. Being a strong, physical team is absolutely vital for a club with our sort of budget.

I haven't a clue but for me it has to be someone who plays a similar style and system to Ange..

All the players we've brought in have been to fit the system and I imagine very likely, all of our scouting/recruitment work in identifying players will have been way down the line....under Ange's guidance. That throws up it's own problems..

Another thing is we know it works well domestically. Attacking football and doing it at speed suffocates and tires everyone we play virtually, domestically anyway. Pressing high and right up the pitch, it's done everyone we've faced..

Burn PL little black book. Keep him away from the showers and let Mr Nicholson get on with the job.

If it comes to it, get it done promptly. Can't have another E Howe fiasco.

Gutted to be honest. Trying to be positive and that but identifying managers we need to look at it but still hoping for a miracle.

I like Knutsen, Potter and a Rodgers return, on paper. They just don't excite me and I don't think there is anyone out there who does, right now.

We’re in a much better position that when Lennon left. Plenty of good names in this thread who are absolutely attainable.

We need to be wary about picking a name over credentials, though. Ange has shown a name in football is nothing. Spurs have showed that from the other end with Mourinho and then Conte.

Villas Boas has failed everywhere he has went since he left Porto.

Give me a choice of Knutsen, who rinsed us with a team operating with a fraction of the budgets we do, or Villas Boas and I'd take Knutsen every single time.

The Moyes link, it just seems completely strange. He's not even remotely into the sort of football others mentioned in this thread are.

Agreed - although achievements and credentials create a name.

    Knutson would be great.

They do. Moyes could win that Conference League next week and I would still be saying naw.

Lovely guy who's a celtic fan but not for the style of football we play. Maybe before, when Lennon had first left but not now. We are complete opposites. Would be a far more difficult transfer window if we try and bring in players to suit a Moyes style team, than have someone who can carry on the work we have done and maybe bring fresh tweaks/ideas to recruitment.

It's not a guarantee of success. His recruitment was generally woeful. Dembele and Ajer arrived that summer but Ajer had agreed to sign months before and Dembele in talks before. Sinclair was also good but Kouassi, Gamboa and De Vries were terrible. The next season it was Comper, Morgan, Hendry and Bain. I'll let Hayes pass as a squad player and Edouard was a good loan.
Aberdeen came 2nd those two seasons as well which tells you a lot. When good players leave he will struggle.

Aye but Ange didn't excite anyone at first..

And he was the fallback option on Howe. Both have had unbelievable seasons so it does show that when we want, we're looking in the right areas..

Surely that's where having a good recruitment network comes in, which we seem to have. If Rodgers wanted the gig, he can't just demand the things he wanted before, like his mate as the head of scouting or whatever Congerton was.

He comes in and continues to coach the players and decides where he wants to see upgrades and what sort of players he wants. Lawwell Jr and the rest of the recruitment team draw up the plans.

I'm all for Rodgers coming back but on our terms. Not his own.

Aside from being a lying egomaniac * in general, and sneaking out the back door mid-season * us off, what you've said are actual reasons I wouldn't want him anywhere near us again. Anyone who'd take him needs a shake.

I think people forget that when he smashed the huns for the first season and a bit that they were at their weakest after being freshly promoted and finished clear third with less than 70 points, they were a riot compared to now.

Knutsen and Seoane are my first two choices. Then Potter.
