"majestically lifted the ball on his foot and placed it delicately into the net for safe keeping"

I know its a semi pro team but back healing across the goal while Tam is prowling about? Not even Barasic would be that stupid. Beautiful bit of skill regardless.

Celtic icon Tom Rogic will not be staying at West Bromwich Albion. The news was confirmed after the club announced their retained and released list this afternoon.

Rogic surprisingly signed for the Baggies back in September after a whole summer of speculation about what his next team after Celtic would be.

He made 23 appearances in total, scoring two goals and assisting three more. However, he only managed four league starts in the Championship and a determination has been made not to extend his one-year deal at the club.

Now 30, it’s unclear what his next career move will be. Every Celtic fan will be hoping he lands on his feet, having become such a fan favourite over many years of success in Glasgow.

The attacking midfielder made 273 appearances in total for the Bhoys, scoring 46 goals along the way, many of which were very memorable.

Bizarre move from him in the first place. Can only see him going to some obscure league in Asia or back to Australia at this point.

I wouldn't take him back now but we haven't properly replaced him imo. His ability to open up the game with a bit of magic and glide past players like a gazelle are things no one in this squad has really.

He was instrumental in our two trophy's last season and even though we've performed better statistically this season he could have still offered something.

I guess they doubled / tripled his wage so reckon it was a last cash grab before he calls it a day / goes to Asia / Oz.

Was he no doing very well there when he actually got game time?

Love Tam but don't want him back now. That ships sailed..

As mentioned above, we do miss someone who can effortlessly link the play like he does though with the drop of a shoulder or turn with those impeccably gifted feet :giggle1:

    Bring him home.

In all seriousness was a strange move as was his dissappearing act with the national team. Should have just stayed another season

Aye one of my fav players, and absolute baller, but wouldn't want him returning.

Mind you he's never genuinely been replaced, all the talk of Oreilly taking over from him is so far off the mark couldn't lace his boots.

Biggest criticism of him from WBA fans seems to be work rate.

TBF Corberan came out towards the end of the season and said Tom wasn't fit and playing with a back injury for months in order to help them out because they had such a thin squad. So I'd say it's a bit rich for them to say he wasn't working hard enough for them.

Him not being fit when he joined and not getting any fitter after training with them for months and then being asked to play with a back problem he picked up in training isn't exactly a glowing recommendation of their fitness, coaching and medical staff.

Look at the difference Ange made to Tam's fitness levels and how quickly he made a difference to him.

Wherever he goes next hopefully he gets in early and is able to have a full pre season this time. Tom isn't a player who can afford to miss pre season (again).

We haven't replaced him yet (O'Riley was a false dawn, nowhere near Tams level of skill) so I'd not be blasé about not wanting him back even though I know it's probably not on either parties mind.

There have been games when we have come up against teams packing the box and we missed having someone like Rogic who could slice them wide up with his left foot. We are even atm just missing his intelligence and decision making when the pressure is on. O'Riley squaring a pass across face of goal when you know Tam would have cooly passed it into the back of the net. So frustrating.

I agree in not believing it very much, especially against the rumoured packet he was going to get in Asia

He was never going to Asia.

I can believe it given the circumstances. Steve Bruce said WBA tried to sign Tom early in the window but lost out to another team and was suprised to find out that move fell through but that he didn't like to ask Tom what happened, that's why they didn't sign him until after the window shut.

Tom didn't seem in a hurry to find a new club when he left and said he needed to take time out first but at that time he didn't pull out of the Oz squad for WC qualifiers so I presume when he left us he still at that point intended to be with the Socceroos and to be at the WC. Then he pulled out the squad suddenly and the move Bruce talked about was called off and he went MIA for 4 months missing pre-season. Whatever personal situation he was dealing with was obviously not trivial, a professional like Tom isn't going to jeopardise his place at the world cup for anything but a good reason. When he was ready to return his options would have been very limited and if he was still holding onto some hope of making the WC he needed to find a team and train. That would have given WBA leverage to drive a hard bargain when negotiating his wage. Only for Graham Arnold to pull a * move and not select him. So he took a pay cut and slummed it in the west midlands for a year for nothing.

Sad situation, when you think of how many times Tom had to play in pain by delaying surgery in order to fly across the world to represent his country (to his and Celtics detrement) only for the Socceroos to treat him like * when he needed support and privacy last summer.

Had a feeling he’d struggle there. He’s a very good player but you want him in a dominant side to really excel. A mid-table championship team is going to be scrapping for points and as good as Tam, his strengths very much lie in the final third of the pitch.
