Think we need to upgrade on Hart, Taylor, O’Riley and Maeda, decent players but if we’ve to improve we need better. Also need to upgrade Centre back and Right back cover. Taylor would be a very good deputy for a new left back.

    That's fair..

I doubt very much that if we were to sign Matsuki that he'd be a starter straight away. I think he'd very much be eased in and a squad player early on....maybe taking the place of someone like Turnbull..

I wouldn't be against going for an experienced keeper who maybe just out of favour at a big club. Would probably be less risky than paying fairly big money for someone in a lesser league like Barkas in Greece..

I think we're in a better place now to go for a Souza than last year. Back to back champions league qualification/financially more willing to go that extra mile to get it done....although no guarantee of course that that's enough to compete with the bigger leagues..

Agree with all the positions listed..

Could argue we need a couple of wingers. Would like a left footed right winger and possibly another who can play wide or up top/through the middle..

Hope Ange go back in for Souza again and hopefully it'll be * successful this time!

Hopefully. I like Souza, I think it would be worth at least making the enquiry again.

I would argue we need two holding midfielders in a double pivot, it's actually been needed for a long time, and would be especially helpful in Europe. Reign in the all out attacking philosophy a bit, and make us harder to beat and break down. It would pay dividends and we would get us positive results again in the Champions League. Rotate when needed between the 4-3-3 system to a 4-2-3-1. If you can't beat them, join them is my philosophy. A competent young goalkeeper, who is agile, good with the ball at his feet, and can show authority by collecting high balls and coming off his line sharply, would be instrumental in that set up too.

Kubo for Sociedad is a class wee player. We were linked with a loan move for him a few seasons ago not long after signing for Madrid. Virtually no chance eh that now. £30m-£40m player.

    On the improvement part..
Gk, LCB, DM and RW are MUSTS. I know we need backup elsewhere like LB and ST but I'd rather sort out the glaring problems first.

Would be buzzing if we signed Levi Garcia and that big Dutch CB. Similar player to Jenz but with more potential apparently. A big physical anchorman is a must I really want to see McGregor moved forward, I know he does a job for us in that 6 position but he's so much better further up. Wouldn't mind him and Iwata/New signing in a double pivot in CL though.

I'm usually optimistic but I've got a feeling we won't see the money we expect being spent. £15m I reckon. Little bit more of a big pkauer leaves, jusy get the fear from what the board did to us after Rodgers left.

If we spent £15m and bring in £40m from sales and add ons then ange has every right to be *

Well as I said, if we sell we'll spend a bit more but I can't see us getting anywhere near £40m unless we sold Abada, Hatate and CCV all at once, which won't and shouldn't happen. Remember we only spent just under £20m in the summer and £15m of that were loans from the previous season. Think some fans are going to be bitterly disappointed. Btw I'm really hoping I'm wrong and we do spend a good chunk more than that as we need to but I just can't see it.

Ange should have a budget of more than £15m (if he wants it) before any sales

He's ran us at a net transfer profit so far and we're at a crucial juncture where we need to match his ambition for the club. If we penny pinch like we have done in the past then he won't be short of offers.

We need 3-4 pieces of quality (GK, LCB, AM, RM) as it stands - if we lose any of Jota, Hatate, CCV and Kyogo then we need to replace them with similar quality which won't be cheap.

Learn from Lawwell's mistakes and use this golden opportunity to push the club forward under a top-class manager

Danny we didn't it's about accounting years.

Jota and CCV where signed the season before so that technically wasn't out this years figures.

You have approx £18m coming in if Tierney, frimpong move and a survival clause from ajer and Christie.

You then have potential of welsh, turnbull, hatate and abada moving on from first team for cash you will easily get £25m plus from that lot.

All the loans players will be moved on again and if you get decent sales you then looking at £10m approx, we have set barkas price at £3.75m himself.

So if they all come off that's £53m alone and you have only lost 4 players from your core pool

Exactly mate ange said at the AGM our strategy has to be two fold to grow as a club

Don't get too attached to players
Be aggressive in the market rather than 3 players at £3m we have go get 3 players at a higher value and calibre to replace the out going and if that means costs like CCV and Jota then that's what we need to grow domestically and in Europe

Out of curiosity what would folk deem good value for the core players who look to be leaving

    Abada - £12m - 3 year on deal
    Hatate - £10m - 3 year on deal
    Welsh - £2m - 3 year on deal
    Turnbull - £3m - final 12 months

Are my valuations plus sell-on clauses for all 4

We’ve spent £26m this season. Only brought in £11m in sales. £15m spent.

£40m in sales is easily possible. Abada, Hatate and O’Riley could all move on in the summer and it we should be bringing in £15m each for Abada and Hatate and £10m for O’Riley. Brighton are going to bring in £130m for 2 of their midfielders. They want Hatate, £15m is more than adequate. I’d actually want more to be honest.

We spent £20m in the summer and didn’t sell a single person. £30m will be easily achievable to spend if we want to properly go to the next level. Imagine bringing in 4/5 players in the CCV/Jota price bracket. 5 players at £6m each and you’re losing a right winger who’s number hide some faults, a midfielder who can barely run but does well and probably our best midfielder outside of McGregor who can still blow hot and cold.

Not sure how you're valuing Abada higher than Hatate and I'd be amazed if we got as much for Welsh & Turnbull given lack of game-time/contractual status

Abada based on current form £8m
Hatate £16m+ (large % sell on)
    Welsh £750k
    Turnbull £1.5m

I’m just going by transfer market. Just goes by transfer signings in a season as opposed to what’s in what season figures.
