Not Actually that Crucial a Summer as of August 2023...beginning to now think everything isnt fine!

Fed up with this homegrown bollocks. I'd rather run with a squad of 20/22 quality players than have token * squad fillers hanging about. Not 1 of those mentioned could be trusted in champions league so what's the * point of having them

 

Just because you don't like the rule doesn't mean we don't work to it. 17 foreign players plus calmac and Taylor won't be enough. You need really at least 4 full backs, 4 center backs, 6 midfielders, 4 wingers and 2 strikers plus 2-3 keepers. It's all well and good saying go with a squad with just starter quality but that leaves you * when injuries come.

 

Ur every bit as * having to play * like Welsh, Johnston or Turnbull.

It's irrelevant having 4 centre backs or 6 midfielders in the squad if you don't trust 1 of the 4 or 2 of the 6 to play.

It's a rule that needs changed. It's restrictive of movement and ability to work. It's against the law. Hinders us even more coming from a country where vast majority of home grown players are *.

 

We’re going to get absolutely leathered in the Champions League if we don’t strengthen significantly, regardless of who we play.

Is there a technically poorer forward in the competition than Maeda? I doubt it.

Is there a goalie as bad as Joe Hart in the completion? Very unlikely.

Is there a centre mid in the competition with worse athleticism than O’Riley? Probably not.

We need players to replace these three in the strongest eleven, and that’s just for starters.

Turnbull to be sold also out of all loan players only Johnston will be given a chance with first team squad

Ange wants 4 out and out pieces of quality and 3 squad fillers

But injuries and suspensions happen. We've had to play 3rd and 4th choice together this season at CB, at one point 3 full backs out, at one point last season we had 3 strikers injured. Who plays? I'll tell you now the academy players aren't ready.

Again it doesn't matter if you don't like the rule or if it's silly, it's there. I don't think we can blame Scottish football being * either, we can scout 17 year olds and make them home grown. We've just done a * job of it. I doubt the rule is against the law, if it was numerous clubs would have put a stop to it, it doesn't stop the players playing in the league just a competition.

At least we know the areas we have to strengthen in the summer. For me goalkeeper is the No.1 priority that needs addressed. If you have a goalkeeper between the sticks who inspires confidence throughout the team its worth its weight in gold.

At the risk of being branded a "panty wetter", I'm already worried about LB.

We're actually in the same position as we were last summer in terms of needing an upgrade in that position. Though you could argue we're actually in a worse position as we've already * 3.5m away on trying to address this area. That means last summer was a recruitment failure.

Do we go and spend another 3-4 million trying to improve LB? We really need to, but how can we have confidence the recruitment team will get it right this time? What LBs are available this year that weren't last year? What attributes did Bernabei have that made us splash out and get him? Who saw these attributes?

 

I don't see how we don't sign one..

It's clearly evident that Ange doesn't trust or overly rate Bernabei..

We've had a good strike rate under Ange/our recruitment team, Bernabei has some good attributes but doesn't suit us and hasn't kicked on enough..

I'm sure we could sell him for decent enough money, even though we'll make some sort of loss..

It should be someone more like a Johnston on the other side who's mobile, good engine, physical, technically sound, has the right mentality..

Taylor will still get enough game time, but be a squad player as opposed to one of the first names on the team sheet..

 

There's alot of positions needing sorted in the summer the keeper situation really need to bring in a number one and the right back and left back back ups in Ralston and bernabi not good enough.
Then we have the centre back situation really need a centre back like carter Vickers big and strong .
Maybe another two midfielders and a right winger and a quality striker .
So 8 positions really need looked at in the summer and hope we do fill these positions with better quality.

Think that hun game was the last for Bernebei

 

I'd say he has been one of the worst signings over the past 4 windows. For £3.5m we should have been buying more than a back up. He needs to go out on loan and perhaps get a loan to buy LB. At the end we'd possibly have a success from the loan or a more experienced Bernabei. But at this point I'd probably rather have Montgomery than Bernabei.

I actually could see Hatate leave tbh, CCV is injured so teams won't go for him this summer, Jota seems very happy here and I'd be shocked if he doesn't want one more crack at the CL, but Hatate might fancy himself ready for the PL, he's basically won everything here in 18 months. Pray I'm wrong but out of everyone he's the one I could see leaving alongside Abada.

Kyogo tho? No chance he leaves unless we get something like £20 million for him. We'd struggle massively to get a player of his quality to replace him. He's also got 2 years left on his deal.

Obviously if any of these players want to leave, Ange won't be long to show them the door, but rejecting a new contract (if he did) doesn't mean he's leaving.
