I would try to loan him to an English championship or league 1 side next year. Whether there would be any takers is another matter but I would try in order to get him game-time to adjust to a more robust style of football.

 

Just doesn't seem settled.

No doubt he'd do well almost anywhere else in mainland Europe but for whatever reason he just isn't fitting in here.

 

Agree he was * poor but in his defense, Ange did him no favors in dropping Maeda, who would have given him better help than Jota.

think the guy needs a good run of games hes came in from the other side of the world and plays rarely, hasnt to my mind had a good game, looks like someone that is isolated and hasnt bedded in, loan him out for 6m to a year or sell and leave the south american market alone

or play him in the rest of the league games see if he improves the more he plays

 

He can't pass the ball 5 yards. No amount of game time is gonna fix the fact he's * *

 

If we aren't playing GT we need Maeda, if we aren't playing Maeda we need GT. Resting both for the same game unless absolutely necessary can't happen again.

 

We need more players in that don't need to rely on others playing to cover/help them..

The same thing gets said when certain 8's are paired together..

 

i agree he has played * but so did all our players on saturday

sometimes you need to persist with some players as they take time to adjust hes a young guy and a million miles from his own country and family and friends

wonder if he has a house and family and has settled in and aclimitized to scotland or if hes half way around the world on his own in a strange country that he doesnt speak the language of, thats happened before with the mexican guy who was isolated and hit the booze heavily

it might well be the right thing to let him go back to argentina i would be willing to hold onto him a little longer and see if he develops

dont believe for a second he cant play football

 

We can't afford to have the perfect team. Learning to pair players according to their weaknesses and strength is what every manager has to do.

 

We do indeed but for now our squad is what it is and ultimately all successful football teams need to find the right balance.

 

You make really good points and lot of things you say are why this always looked a risky signing. Taking a 21 year old, inexperienced player half way across the world to a country where he doesn't speak the language and climate couldn't be anymore different was always a gamble, particularly for the money we paid.

Im not just basing my judgement on Saturday tho, he's played 19 games now and in almost everyone his passing has been honking. He played at tynecastle earlier in the season and he was every bit as bad.
I read he gave the ball away something like 28 times from 100 touches on Saturday. That is woeful and no amount of mitagatinf circumstances; weather, language, inexperienced whatever can excuse the fact he probably gave the ball away more times on Saturday than he passed to his own teammates. For me he was the worst player on the park on Saturday by a fair distance

 

Absolutely should not be moving him on, yet.

There is clearly a player in there, but he's not playing with confidence in himself or as if he is settled with the side.

He's got talent for sure, got a bit of skill and is not shy to show for the ball. Good drive forward, likes to come in to the middle and has a decent shot on him.

He can fit this side, but he needs a proper run of games and some confidence. He's not had a stand out game that's "made him" yet. But it can still happen.

A bit optimistic.

 

Personally I don't think he's settled to life in Scotland.

Yes, yes, I know my argument can be flipped inside out and taken apart.

But he reminds me of Elhamed - you could see there was potential there but mentally, he just wasn't here and didn't enjoy living in the country.

Personally I'd accept the loss on him and see if a club in mainland Europe would take him

 

Not settling. Didn't speak English. Just had a baby as well. Let's face it all of that is going to affect how you settle.

Agree that he should be loaned out. Don't want to give up hope just yet.

 

Loaning him out to another British team will just be more of the same and sending him to mainland Europe might make him not want to come back here

I want to like him but I just can’t see it working out long term here for him.

 

Elhamed was miles better than this dud....

 

Don't even see the potential tbh.

If we are to progress, we need to rid these types of players and get better in.

Fills me with fear if Taylor were to be injured at any point with Bernabei to deputise.

 

Can I ask what makes you think he hasn’t settled? Following him on Instagram, he is always posting pictures of Glasgow, of his family here enjoying the sights of Scotland.
