Sure Lennon was wrong to let the players out but these are grown men and should be able to take some responsibility. Mulgrew tells the story like it's all Lennons fault but surely he was old enough to know the repercussions of his actions.

Nah it shows a lack of discipline and Lennon trying to be their pal and one of the boys. It's the total opposite of Ange's approach. Happened after the Karagandy game as well and Forrest missed the league game after it because he was hungover. Doesn't help that him and his coaching staff were never out the Drake either.

That's my point. My post never absolved Lennon of his responsibility.

Just because Lennon allows them to go on the * doesn't mean they should. I would like to think our players could have held themselves to some level of self discipline.

He * it right up at the end and stayed too long but will always have a soft spot for Lenny. Took some amount of * in this country throughout his time as a player and manager.

Letting the players go out on the * might have have been a result of our problems rather than the cause. I.e., maybe the dressing room atmosphere was so honking, he just wanted them to enjoy themselves and get a positive attitude back somehow. A lot of old school football managers seem to have that attitude, they'll turn a blind eye to a Friday night *-up so long as they make the bus the next morning.

How can they when their manager is using it as a form of galvanising them before matches. You've got players on open goal that saying before big matches he's giving it think of the night out lads if you win. He's encouraging it ffs. My point was he didn't just * up one season. He is the exact same manager he has been since 2010 a dinosaur

So basically because the manager says it's alright to go and get * before a big game then it alright for professional players to do so. Players who feel that the incentive of a night out * is any sort of encouragement should not be playing professional football. If he encouraged them to do coke before a game I wonder if they would have been as obedient.

Neil Lennon talks with Olympiakos but English scene is also on the former Hibs and Celtic manager's mind

Lennon has been out of football since leaving Cypriot club Omonia Nicosia in October last year.

Neil Lennon’s representatives are due for talks with the Greek club Olympiakos in the next 72 hours as the former Hibs and Celtic coach seeks a route back into management.

Olympiakos want to appoint a new head coach after the Spaniard Michel resigned last month. They are currently third in the Greek Super League and on course for the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds after beating leaders Panathinaikos on Monday. Sporting director Jose Anigo is in charge on an interim basis.

Lennon, 51, is available and keen to get back into work either in Britain or Europe. He was sacked by the Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia last October but his reputation in the eastern Mediterranean remains strong

He guided Omonia to the 2022 Cypriot Cup and took them into the Europa League group phase to face Manchester United, Real Sociedad and Sheriff Tiraspol. Olympiakos officials are now scheduled for discussions with the Northern Irishman’s agents regarding their managerial vacancy.

Thought Dundee would have been good choice for him.

Well I think one main difference would be that one would be a crime the other wouldn't.

This AND blowing the 10iar was the best thing that ever happened to us - Ange, great players and £80m for two champions leagues..would have been well different if Lennon had won it!

That's true. I'm certainly not condoning what happened.

My point is I would expect more from a Celtic player than to use the excuse that the manager allowed them to do it. Both players and manager are both culpable. The manager more so because he is the manager.

Well if they can distinguish right from wrong in a legal sense surely they can distinguish right from wrong regarding their profession.

Players would get banned for drugs not for having a night out the notion that all players will be whiter than white and 100% committed to being 24 hour athletes is pie in the sky. If your manager tells you can have a night out then of course there will be some who will take that option
