Not disagreeing with other comments about his defending at their goal, but no way he should have been in that position himself with Van Veen. That's more on Ange than Taylor for me.

Thought he wasn't good at the goal, but he shouldn't have been put in that position. Maybe mistiming a challenge and getting sent off was on his mind?

Anyway we didn't drop points just because of him. As a team we never tested a keeper who looked like he was carrying an injury for 25 minutes.

He shouldn't have been isolated like that, but we're talking about Van Veen here. Not someone like Mbappe. His defending was beyond amateurish. Most defenders jockey or try and stifle him there. Don't know what Taylor was thinking running with his back turned.

Things like that worry me greatly for Europe again next year. Firstly because of Taylor's defending. Secondly because that goal today was a carbon copy of most goals we conceded in the CL this season. We can't keep making those same silly mistakes.

Lol, thought exactly the same that he made Van Veen look like Mbappe.

Not even slightly surprised Van Veen did that to him. We just forget how much of a dog * defender he is because we have 85% of the ball every week.

He got turned inside out by a * average striker, all he had to do was show him out wide and close the angle on his strong foot, if he wanted to go inside on his weaker foot then let him.

    We’ll learn from it though.

Not buying this 'should not have been isolated" lark. With the amount of possession we have against SPL dross, and the way we use the inverted the full backs, and the amount of set pieces we get, there will be the odd occasion when a player will be isolated one on one-and he just has to do better.
Also, he offered so little going forward yesterday.

Defending for that goal gets worse every time you watch it.

Hes playing through injury because Bernabei can't be trusted to start

There's a reason Juranovic came on at left back at Ibrox.

Playing while injured is a common occurrence under Ange, and it must stop. The best way for Bernabei to grow as a player is to be tested. I'd play him, and see what happens. Huns are going to have to defend, not just attack.

Turning your back to the ball is absolutely criminal, was at the game and could see the goal coming a mile away because of Taylor’s body shape.

Don’t want to sound too knee * because Taylor has definitely turned out to be a player I didn’t think he was capable of being already, but I would still like us to try and improve on that position ideally for next season tbh.

Vanveen a better striker than you think and will say now think he's better than OH and to score 21 goals this season and 8 goals in the last 5 games is impressive.

Taylor has been carrying an injury by all respects from what we are learning. My calculated guess is that Taylor feared getting a red from Beaton as last man ( who wouldn't ?), we would have been down to ten men and maybe lost that game because of it. And Taylor may have been suspended for the Cup Semi.He shouldn't have been in that position, that was a mistake, ideally it should have been Johnston, who is faster, stronger and more athletic. As regards Bernabei, if he is not trusted by Ange in big games, then what good is he to us ? If that is the case, then we need to own up to another mistake, and try and offload Bernabei in the summer.

I think we are all agreed we need another reliable left back in that case.
My suggestion is sell Bernabei, bring Scales back, and promote Matthew Anderson to the first squad. Scales could also fill in at LCB.

He's 31 and spent most of his career in League One and Two. 2 goals in 21 games for Scunthorpe the season before he signed for Motherwell. He's dross.

    Would agree with this.

He's been brilliant this season but he's still not got that pace or physicality that will hopefully help us in Europe.

It's one of the worst bits of defending you'll see at any level..

    100%..

If we could get an athletic, dynamic left back in with Taylor rotated/backup....we'd be strong in that department..

I'm no downplaying what he brings to us either. He's been top drawer pretty much all season....but we can definitely improve in that area. It's just getting someone who is as good as him at coming in to central midfield. He is really good at that and no all good fullbacks are..

I think it's an area we have to look at. I'd loan Bernabei out or even sell if need be..

Personally buzzing to see him in Europe again and 1 piece of * defending doesn’t change that a jot.

His development under Ange is almost a miracle, he has been absolutely outstanding this season.
