Forgot to mention that with Celtic winning the League Cup, Cal Mac has just equalled the trophy haul of the Legendary Celt Jimmy Quinn.
Interesting thing about Quinn is that one of those competitions he won was the British Cup which was the competition organised to help towards the families of those who died in the Ibrox Disaster of 1902. Scotland v England match in which 25 died and 500 injured
There was another one organised a few months later which was called the Rangers Benefit competition which Celtic also won.
    Never did another one.
    Wonder why :84:

The stat about Calmac, 14 finals played and 14 won. I doubt there’s a better one than that in out history, doubt there’s as large a 100% hit rate

Just wondering if there will be another Coronation Cup so Celtic can win that. :84:

How was the team run back then? Who would organise who would play? Surely there was someone in the background organising it all you’d have thought

Prior to 1897 the real mover and shaker was John Glass. After that Maley moved officially into the position of being more directly involved in all areas of the actual playing/club side of things, while Glass became one of the original Board directors in 1897 and Club President til his death in 1906.

Even Willie Maley acknowledged this, writing that 'Brother Walfrid founded the club, but John Glass established it'. Glass was responsible for so much of Celtic's early years in a wide array of areas, including from obtaining the actual ground to play on to player recruitment and beyond.

He was instrumental in those formative years. Before 1897, Glass was the wheeler-dealer behind the scenes arranging for many of the player approaches (for instance, the Hibs players that formed the early core of the team) and continued to be instrumental in the signings etc and was massively responsible for dragging the wider game through his influence, primarily at Celtic, into a Professional age.

Through the era of shamateurism (the game was supposed to be just played by amatuers but it was the worst kept secret that most clubs were embracing professionalism as the 1890's progressed that a lot of the players were being payed etc).

In those first few seasons, Celtic's original nemisis was actually Queen's Park based on this 'establishment Scottish insisting on amatuers versus the upstart Irish embracing professionals divide. It was only after that as Queen's Park refused to follow the professionalism suite, and R****** had embraced that (among other things) that they became the avatar for the Scottish Establishment sentiments against the 'Irish upstart' Celtic.

On the actual team side of things it was mostly James Kelly (the original captain) and then Willie Maley gradually more involved with things such as fitness, training (such as it was) and selections. But once the facade of having to be amatuer on the surface obviously meant the structure was much more formalized, the position of manager was created for Maley to do the signings and selections.

Cal Mac will have to play in remaining 2 Scottish Cup matches, hopefully, and all remaining league games as well as 1st 5 games of next season to move to 30th place on the list.

Just found a way to organise the stats for players trophy haul.
Will look at wiki for each year they won a trophy and put that on excel document and allocate each sheet to specific year then will enter comps won in each year then will go through each year with full list of players entered and then mark off each corresponding box for each competition.
Once every year is done then I will total them up and post them on the site.

EDIT: Just checked a little before starting the stats.
It shows that since Celtic foundation we have went 33 seasons without a trophy.
Or in other words we have won at least one trophy in 102 seasons.

It’s a bit weird in the stats book. Found one of the seasons showing team sheets for 3 matches in a row but not the actual opponents but the score is included :39:

Hope CalMac reaches 420 matches this season.
That would mean we have beaten the Huns today in SC SF

I think CalMac is young and fit enough to do it but needs to remain fit to do it and that’s play 75% of next season matches to reach Forrest’s tally, 3.5 seasons to reach Broony’s total and 7.5 seasons to reach Cesar’s total.
    These are approximate figures.
