He's already shown parts of his game are an upgrade on Jackie in my opinion..

Also have to take in to account that the first few months of Jackie's time here were missing sitters and penalties and barely up to speed..

I'd argue Oh has contributed more in similar game time..

He may prove to be less clinical than Jackie, today's miss was poor....but he missed a lot of pre season and has been playing catch up here....off the bench..

He'll be fine. Still young and will show it fully in time..

Oh definitely has better vision and link up play. But if you have the ball in the box, who do you want it to fall to - Oh or GG?

I'm not comparing their Celtic careers as I feel it's way too early to judge Oh. I'd definitely agree that in Oh's first few games, He has been better than GG's first few games. But current GG is better than current Oh.

I 100% think Oh will be better than GG as an individual and as a team player. He's just not an upgrade YET.

Like him as a player and do think he'll do well but you don't get that same feeling of confidence that he'll grab a goal the way you did when Giakoumakis was coming on.

Getting deja vu reading this thread.

Very similar to the Giakoumakis one early on.

He's young yet, just turned 22, and he does not have the game time experience yet of a player of Giakoumakis's calibre,
and he is still learning all the aspects of the game, but he does possess some good qualities like turning defenders on the spot, and he is fleet of foot. I would like to see him start more games to build his confidence and experience up. Sunday could be the ideal game for that, because a big strong physical presence would rattle that Hun's defence. I would like to see Ange roll the dice and fit both Kyogo and Oh in the same team for that Cup Semi.
But we had the same debate for Kyogo and GG to start together too.

You can't win in that situation, and I am not going to start that rammy again :giggle2:

GG got the same treatment after missing a penalty against Livingston last season. Folk never learn.

The penalty miss against Livingston was shocking though. We really needed the win that day.

The making of GG was when Kyogo got injured and he stepped up to being our main striker. Oh has only been getting minutes here and there just now. He’s also a lot more inexperienced. * need to chill the * out.

I'm not berating him for his performance over two games, but I'm just not seeing the potential others are.

If you don't have that natural killer instinct for goal, you need to have other talent in spades. Look at Eddy. He was never a natural striker in the same way that Griffiths, but he brought more to the table overall. Is Oh comparable to where Eddy was at 21? I'm not necessarily seeing that.

I'm open to the idea that he's got a big future with us but I'd like to know what skills he's bringing and what sort of striker he's meant to be.

I know what you are saying but GG was a proven goal scorer before we got him. The boy needs a chance to settle.

As much as I had my doubts about him after the first couple games I don't think you make the south Korean squad and have klinsmann going to rugby park unless you have decent potential. Bar next week we should be using the end of this season to really be ramping up his game time.

I agree I think he'd a decent player and has shown enough to have us optimistic but there is no chance he starts ahead of Kyogo until league is wrapped up and even then I wouldn't hold my breathe.

He has something in his locker, unfortunately days like today happen.

In saying that, I want us to bring in another forward this summer and someone older.

Tbf GG even at his peak had games where you'd forget he was even on the pitch like Oh did just there. Kyogo too.

He was poor today but have complete faith he'll smash it for us.

If we aren't prepared to blood young players and utilize the squad when we have won the league then this lad, bernabei, Vata, summers, lawal, Kobayashi might as well pack up their bags because we aren't gonna get a better chance.

See where I agree with the above, the real likelihood is we will now need to win our next two post split games to wrap the title up.

We will then probably be away to them and I can’t see Ange changing tilde the team for that.

We will then have the trophy game day where I think Ange will want to give most of the starting XI a game or at least the start. So realistically we will only have the one game fixture 4 of 5 from the split to really rotate.

Ideally for me you bring in a couple a game, if CCV is to be off for surgery after the cup semi; then play Kobayashi. If Jota and Abada aren’t fit play Vata; if Taylor is carrying a knock play Bernabei; play Oh instead of Kyogo, however other than that one game I don’t see wholesale changes.

Doesn't matter if he's young, inexperienced, still settling or whatever. It's not unfair to talk about a game in isolation. He offered * all today and his miss today was a shocker. That doesn't ignore the positive impact he's had at other times but today he was *.

Yeah I agree mate but at the start of the season we had a striker who was absolutely on fire and the manager dropped him as soon as Kyogo was fit and he's played pretty much every game since, now despite me and others on here complaining about that at the time unsurprisingly the manager knew better than us. But over last 2 years, the constant has been when kyogo is fit he starts. Win next week and I don't see the manager taking foot off the gas with a treble on the line.

Kobayashi and Bernabei may get a chance due to injuries to Ccv and Taylor.
Vata has looked decent but let's be honest if Abada was fit he's not on the bench today.
Ange has build a tremendous squad but there are senior players who are looking for and deserving of minutes ahead of kids from the B team. The way our squad is now and the way the league is I really don't see many youngsters getting anywhere near the squad going forrward

GG wasn't really a proven goal scorer though, he had one high scoring season just before we bought him from venlo, but his record was pretty * poor the rest of his career up to that point, he couldn't buy a goal, we took real a gamble that he was a late bloomer and hadn't just hit a purple patch.
