I get that he had the strongest squad and post winter break Celtic were looking brilliant but I do think he deserves some credit for steadying the ship. Manager walking off would have had an impact on players. I don't think he earned the job permanently but I'm still greatful he was there and I'm not even a fan of his.

The point is, he didn't do anything that another bog standard manager couldn't have done. His remit was essentially "you've got three months to go, just don't oversee a spectacular capitulation". And we were rotten for most of that time.

I didn't say you were making it up, I said I didn't remember the comments. They've obviously left more of an impression on you than myself.

The comments do seem somewhat bitter to me. But they're hardly beyond the pale. So he felt bitter about not being backed, why would I care? Why do you?

If you genuinely feel that strongly about comments such as those, that just seems strange to me. That's what I mean when I say I don't get the hate. I'm not singling you out here, you're just the guy that replied, but among some supporters it borders on the pathological.

Supporters is the key word. To disrespect the support at all is blasphemy in football. It’s well understood at pretty much every club.

In my opinion many people that like Lennon are giving him a by because they like him.

For the record, I don’t agree with the word hate. I dislike him beyond his abysmal performance as Celtic manager in his second spell, but hate is way beyond how I feel.

I don’t see what anyone would like about him after the way he behaved, regardless of his past winnings while we supported him.

Fair enough. He won a fair bit of goodwill with me with regards to the * he went through at the hands of the huns during his first run. He's one of us and it doesn't feel right to me to turn on him because he got a bit pissy about not being backed. I probably do give him a pass because of that but also because I see him as someone that genuinely felt he had a duty to the club. I just think when the tide turned against him and he felt the pressure, he responded poorly, rather than him being entirely self-serving. I'd draw a clear distinction between him and say Rodgers, who I've not got much time for.

I think that’s a fine opinion to be honest.

Everyone has their own view, it just irks me when people think he’s only disliked by so many purely because he lost the 10.

I'd no idea he'd even been sacked. Thought after those results in Europe he must have been doing well, apparently not.

Some people including Celtic fans have a rather petty vindictive attitude towards Neil Lennon - one look at his record as a Celtic player and manager tells you he is a serial winner. Sorry if that upsets some people.

My two pennies on it are.

    1. I am extremely bitter towards him for the way he acted after losing his job. Yes, try and explain a few things and try and give people the impression that it wasn't all your fault. I have no problem with that. I have no problem with him having a go at the players who clearly wanted out of the club. We all know they wanted out, he was right. Don't attack the fans though. Regardless of how badly some reacted during the COVID season. Having some level of humility to admit that you got it wrong in some places. By all means, be confident in your ability to think you could have turned it around. Again, no problem with that but you also need to have that humility.

"I think we definitely got it wrong in some areas. With some of our set ups, our general play. Our recruitment didn't work out the way we hoped it would and we seemed to struggle without the fans. I feel as if I could have turned it around though. Should I have been given more time? For me, yes but you can understand the nature of the beast at Celtic. It's one of the hardest jobs in football."

Something like that would have went a long long way for me. He doesn't need to fold on himself, he doesn't need to slag off the fans. He doesn't need to call us entitled. He just had to have some humility. He has shown absolutely zero humility since being sacked.

    2. Some fans definitely went too far. It's understandable, it was a massive season. You can argue for and against who was responsible for that. The board/Lennon/the players but some fans went way over the top.

    3. As mental as it sounds, I listened to him on talksport the other day with McCoist and I actually enjoyed listening to him. I would love to see a more in depth interview with him. Maybe on Open Goal or a podcast somewhere. I'm sure he would have some cracking stories from the MON days and his management days at Celtic. Some proper great stories.

    4. I hope he has, at the very least, spoken to people like Sutton and Hartson. The guys who defended him to the hill until they could defend him no more. He was bang out of order with how he went on with them and, while I don't expect him to issue an apology to them online, I hope they have managed to clear the air. I went to one of the Celtic events last year with MON, Sutton, Jackie McNamara, Paul Lambert and Lubo Moravcik. There were some proper hilarious stories with Lennon. That core group have always kinda stayed in touch. Sutton said during it that he still speaks to Jackie McNamara, Stillian Petrov and John Hartson every week and he made a light hearted joke about not hearing from "Lenny as much now"... it would be sad to see them all fall out over it.

    5. Again, sounds mental but see when this football club is doing amazing things and they make you feel happy? I genuinely let bygones be bygones. Especially guys who have done some amazing things for this football club. Rodgers and Lennon, wish them nothing but the best and hope that, if they do ever come back to Celtic Park in some capacity, they get a nice enough welcome. *, I was even cheering on Howe and Newcastle yesterday.

Neil Lennon has admitted the incredible lengths Celtic went to in an attempt to out a mole leaking team news on social media.

The former Hoops boss admits he was furious after a long-term leaker was able to put out his team on a consistent basis, giving opponents a serious advantage.

And it led to the club employing a forensic IT company to check employees' phones as they tried to find out who was behind the information seeping out.

Speaking to BBC's 5 Live, he explained: "Even at Celtic, in my second spell, we would pick the team a day before. Then the team would be out on the wires at like 7pm that night. You're thinking 'it's coming from somewhere it's coming from somewhere in the building'. Sometimes, even the players can do you in if they're maybe out the team. It wouldn't have happened 10-15 years ago but it's such a common trend now. I am wary of naming a team a day before the game but it's what the players like.

We played Jonny Hayes (September 2019), there's absolutely no way anybody could have known we were going to play Jonny Hayes on the left wing. I swear, at 6.30pm (Saturday night before game) it's all over Twitter. I was raging, you are just giving the opposition an advantage here. Because either someone is getting paid money for it or they are giving it to a betting company, or this guy is feeding them a few... I don't know. It was just so wrong on so many levels.

"It wasn't leaked to the media, it was leaked to somebody and this guy would put it on Twitter. Even under Brendan, nine times out of 10 was bang on with the team.

"Somebody in the dressing room or the building is doing this. We tried all sorts to stop it. I said we are bringing in forensic computer IT guys to check your phones and blah, blah.. And it stopped for a while. But then bang, it started again."
