You’re clutching at straws here tbh mate.

I was very surprised that the foul was given on Saturday, but it was the correct decision. The reaction says a lot more about the decisions the huns tend to get than it does about Clancy. It’s a thought out campaign to try and ensure they can cherry pick referees for games; much like Juventus were found guilty of in the past.

Sometimes it's not just about the actual foul itself but about the context of the situation, in another area of the field minimal contact of that nature may not be given as a foul, but in this instance the opposing team gained an adavntage by way of scoring a goal.

Just about every time you see a corner kick coming in there is jersey pulling in the penalty box as players jostle for the ball, that in itself is not a foul, but if a players jersey is pulled just as he is attempting to head the ball towards goal then it can be given as a penalty, as a goal scoring opportunity is being denied.

If a foul is commited during the process leading up to a goal, then it's only right that this is taken into account, we've seen it many times in the EPL, goals have been chalked off for similar.

    Confused CSC.

Swings and roundabouts. Our only league defeat this season at St Mirren was from a couple of pushes in the back..

    Evens itself out ay :ange2:

I agree with this thought. They just can't fathom why they weren't allowed to get away with it, like they usually are.

I remember thinking similarly to the McGregor/Jota goal incident. He ran straight at the ball, and not in a manner to block the goal. At the last second he pulls out of what I expected to be him wiping out Jota to get the ball. I thought that he knew he'd get pulled up for it, whereas he'd get away with it against other teams, as long as he got some of the ball in the process.

They're just not used to being held to account as equals. They get to bully and harass, and they get fouls for it back. Being held to the letter of the law was alien to them

I’m not really mate. That goal Johnston scored at St. Mirren is probably more of a foul than Saturday. I still don’t think it is a foul though as I just think he is too strong for the defender.

What’s your take on Johnston’s goal at St. Mirren?

Two players jumping for a header, not a player being shoved to the ground by an attacker to try and create space. It's a terrible comparison with the Morelos incident tbh.

Morelos pulls this move all day every day, it is his signature move which results in most of his goals. He is very good at it so it is easy to see why he gets away with it. However Clancy pulled him up for it and rightly so. Hopefully he gets pulled up for it more often (doubt).

The move is simple, when the ball is about to be played into the box, you start to push the defender, the defender will grab a hold of you as is taught through every age grouo, 'if your pushing me this way then you are coming with me'. Then at the last minute Morelos will either let go of the player or give them a nudge which results in either; the defender missing the flight of the ball (as in Johnson) or the player being left with a handful of shirt he didn't want in the first place (as in picture).

All that's happened is the wee rat got done for it in a big game when he usually gets away with it. Love it, the one time he really wanted to get way with it and he gets told to gtf.

The whole 6 of one and half a dozen of the other is a lot of rubbish when you ask yourself, who initiates the pushing/contact every single time?

I agree with this. It wasn't a foul for me but he did give the ref a decision to make and I can see why Clancy blew for it. It's the kind of thing you see given a lot. It was clever defending from Johnston as he probably realised he wasn't getting to the ball and won the foul. The kind of thing defenders in Europe have done against us in the past.

And aye, it goes without saying VAR couldn't intervene as Clancy had a perfect view and blew for it.

Irrelevant going by what your argument has been up until now. Johnson has got both hands on the defenders back and the defender ends up on the floor. So that’s surely a shove going by your theory on the rules.

I don’t think it’s a foul in all honesty. However, it’s incredibly blinkered to say the one by Morelos is a foul as it’s a shove because he has his hands on his back, whilst basically claiming the same thing by Johnson is just two players jumping for a header. If you said the Johnson one was a foul as well I could at least understand your argument as there would be a consistency.

Totally mate. As I’ve said already, you will see the same amount of contact at pretty much every corner of free kick that gets out into the box. Doesn’t mean they are all fouls. The thing is, had it been at the other end, the same people claiming it is a foul would be arguing it wasn’t.

As has been said to you already, you’re clutching at straws. The two incidents aren’t even similar in the slightest.

Yet others also think the one from last Saturday wasn’t a foul. It’s about opinions. Who knew eh. I just happen to be consistent with mine, whereas you aren’t.

That is unbelievably reductive. Your arguement is pretty much that if we agree to call a dog an animal and a duck an animal and we have a dog and a duck then we have two animals which are the same thing.
The body mechanics of someone in the air Vs someone in the ground are totally different. For instance, if you put any force below the balancing point of the body while in the air the player is likely to go horizontal so the player must be protected however this is not the case with a player on the ground. Just like raking someone's ankle in the air isn't going to do much whereas when there foot is on the ground it has nowhere to go and so all the force goes through into the achilles.
Would you not agree that the exact same force in both situations could easily result in a foul in one situation but not the other?

In terms of jumping, if one player jumps up with his elbows bent and the other player jumps up into his forearms then that's not a foul, never has been. If the player pushes down off a player to gain leverage then it is a foul. For me, going by the footage, he doesn't push down, he jumps gets the advantageous position and the player jumps into his arms, great body positioning by Johnston.

On the ground players jockey for position then stop just as the ball comes in.
So did the player jockey for position, yes. Did Alistair get prime position, yes. Did Morelos let go, no, he pushed him laterally laterally flight of the ball at the last minute.

Here's the main question I've got for you; Johnston was asked after the game about the incident and he stated that he 'pretty much had a free header until he felt two hands on his back'. Was he lying and Beale et al are telling the truth in your opinion?

Last thing I’ll say on it. I’m not sure what your first part of the post is all about. Both incidents in comparing, both defenders feet are on the ground. The St. Mirren defender hasn’t left the ground, neither had Johnson with the Morelos one.

In both instances, the attacking player ends up with both hands on the defenders back. I don’t think either are a foul or a shove in all honesty.

See the photo you have put up, that’s showing Johnson already with his head pointing towards his own goal. That tells you his body is in the wrong position. That happiness due to him grappling with Morelos initially.

Had it not been given by the ref, VAR wouldn’t have overturned it, because it’s a 50/50 call. Myself, and plenty others think it’s not a foul and we got away with it, plenty think it was a foul. The fact that huns are writing letters is laughable. We have been * over plenty times this season with VAR. This is probably their first dubious decision against them and the funny is well and truly out.

On your last part, all I’ll say is, there’s no footballer on the planet in an interview after the game going to admit he goes down easily. So whether Johnson did or didn’t wasn’t confirmed either way with his interview.

    Ok well;

    Here's Morelos pushing

    Screenshot_20230413_091508.jpg

    Here's Morelos still pushing

    Screenshot_20230413_092608.jpg

And Morelos pushing again, note the body weight transfer

    Screenshot_20230413_092910.jpg

And here's Johnston not touching the defender

    Screenshot_20230416_083839_com.android.chrome_edit_368750321784875.jpg

In three pictures one player is using another for leverage and in one picture the player isn't using the player as leverage. Three pictures are of a dirty sneaky cheating Hun with priors and one picture of our righteous and honourable Canadian superstar.

You say Johnston does the same dirty things as Morelos, you say he's not truthful and that no football players are truthful. Ok.

Got a clear penalty but that guy has been a joke in numerous games involving us now..

Always slowing down and giving the opposition nothing freekicks over and over..

A new one but by far the worst I've seen this season for playing on when we've been blatantly fouled. Happened so many times involving him..
