Our defence is so brittle..France and Holland are gonna * rape us lol. To be fair, we're never ever going to qualify for a tournament with Kenny-Hill at the helm.

Love the commentator genuinely comparing Mikey Johnston to Jimmy Johnstone because he jinked past 2 unknown Latvian defenders.

Anyway, not saw a lot of the Irish national team recently. Just tend to watch the Scotland games and wish the international break away afterward. But from the outside looking in it's flabbergasting to see Stephen Kenny still there as manager.

For the Irish Celts on here, can someone explain to me if possible what's going on there? How come he seems to just be able to avoid any sort of accountability for results? He's been there for like 3 years and it feels as if there's been very little progress. I know he's been trying to integrate youngsters and phase out the older players - or at least I think something like that is going on - but not sure where the line is. Surely after 3 years you would've been hoping for some sort of genuine progress under him.

Or have the performances just not been matched by the results? Genuinely confused as to how he's still there. From the outside it just looks like he's made a total * of campaign after campaign so far.

The Irish FA is flat broke - Kenny will be going on even after Euro 24 failure. You see, it's a project..and instead of playing winning and sometimes qualifying ugly hoofball..we now play amazing beautiful looking tippytappy football so it doesn't matter that we will never qualify as it's not hoofball..

We're flat broke and probably can't afford to sack him. I still think another manager could do a lot better with this group. We need a mixture of hoof and tippy me thinks - Maybe something like HoofTappy would actually see us qualify?

Agreed on all counts there although I will say given we have France, Netherlands and Greece in our group and you need to finish top 2 then we could have Ange in charge and it wouldn't make any difference to qualification.

To be fair the talent is not there anyway. We are in a rebuilding phase not just of the senior team but of football period in Ireland. We need to continue to build on the initial work done in building up the LOI academies and the national leagues in the country and accept that it is going to take time for us to be able to produce top level players consistently and have a senior team that we can be proud of. We don't have the players currently to get anything done period any style so its best for us now to build up from below the foundations for long term success and part of that is playing a more possession based style and teaching all our most talented players to be comfortable with and to want the ball and to want to actually play.

Its a fair comment. Aside from being flat broke the reality is that Irish football is in a complete rebuild and so badly and for so long have the FAI abdicated their role in developing the proper structures and pathways to develop our top young players that this is going to take time and by time I mean maybe even another 10 years or so thats how behind we were/are. Only in recent seasons have we begun to correct these faults with the nascent academy system in LOI clubs and the new national leagues structures and we are seeing some green shoots there. Ferguson for example is a product of the recent changes so there is hope but there is a long way to go and Ireland will struggle for many years yet.

We bit of excitement creeping in to the camp with big Ferguson & then the performances of MJ & Smallbone showing promise, can't say I'll enjoy the reality check on monday

Mental that some people are complaining like “how can we concede to Latvia in Dublin twice”. The first is a * Puskas nomination for me and the second is a wild deflection that, in fairness, should’ve been dealt with previously when two Irish players got in each other’s way. Plenty of positives. Mikey looked confident. I’ve only just caught the highlights as I was away.

Our squad on paper is brutal but Kenny has produced some decent performances. Awful draw again for the qualifiers let’s just see what he can do eh.

Weirdly optimistic we’ll put in a good performance tonight, but think a result will be beyond us. They have too much quality and we aren’t street wise enough to shut them out for 90 minutes.

    Raging I don’t have a ticket tbh.

Struggling to get up the pitch here, looking like it’s only a matter of time till France score.

So sick the fashion we gave that goal away.. we kept them so quiet all game Bazunu hadn’t a save to make.

Some real positives. Molumby and Ogbene were class all night. Gives you hope we can maybe get through the group in second if France sweep the group. Oh well
