Don't know like, that Duk has bossed games on his own at times for the sheep, he'd defo raise his game in our system.. on another note, if Starfelt was to leave in the summer I'd like to see us go in for someone like Kamal Miller, left footed centre back, good age at 25, had a very good WC with Canada and only has a year left on his contract so could get him for a decent fee. Knows AJ as well so would settle in no problem.

He definitely has been a standout in that team and I do believe he'd contribute to ours but I don't think he puts Jota, Abada or Haksa out for technical ability or Maeda for workrate and pace, he'd be in competing as a bench option of reckon, if we want a next level for champions league I don't think he's that player to come in to be an upgrade on our starters or first bench players.

Can't comment on miller there too much, not seen much of him myself

Players will move on this summer and if rumours are to be believed, Abada might want away.
A lot of people might have said the same about players like Scott brown who came from other spl teams. You have no idea how he will develop when surrounded by better players and he has been a bright spark in a poor Aberdeen side.

Its usually difficult for us to sign players who will take us to the next level, hence why we often sign players who might develop into those players.

Id rate him among the best prospects of the rest.

We also have to be realistic with our expectations. He has just turned 23 and has scored around 10 in 25 for a team who went through somewhat of a crisis. He could finish the season with close to 15 goals. Some perspective.

From what iv seen of him he is has some real pace and he is a physical specimen.

I'm not * on him at all, he is a decent player, but do you honestly think he's better than anyone that we have at the club right now? Yes players will probably move on this year tahts how things work but of they do we will be making a decent packet on them so I'd say aim high in who we got for a replacement with if we want to step on any replacements should be player we think will do better for us than the player they are replacing. Yes, we don't know exactly who will be a superstar or not there's loads of variables that's why we scout far and wide

I'm a fan of shopping the Scottish market, we should take the best of it, especially of it's homegrown talent, I would not be angry if we signed him, but he's not one I'd be saying go all out and get to improve us.

Maybe not in this very moment, but he could be in 6-12 months once bedded into the squad and with the competition in the squad pushing his development.

I agree and would love for a signing who would instantly add quality like a Jota to be made as well, but they dont come around often. But like Jota, he is an ex Benfica youth which shows he has a bit of pedigree. It would totally depend on the price Aberdeen would want.

I like him. He is a late developer. I mean, I didn't know about him much till last season (2022 season). Last season, many people were saying he is very good, so I watched his games and he was impressive in the games I watched. He is a bit like Hatate. J League 2023 season started last month and he's been good so far. I think I need to see his games more to judge, though. J-League started with 10 teams, but kept increasing and now there are 60 teams. Not only that, a lot of Japanese footballers are playing in Europe too. I'm too busy watching football games!

That's fair. Was just wondering if he was making waves over there like Wakizaka and Mitsuta. He does remind me of Hatate a little bit particularly with his passing vision.

Ryotaro Ito was one of the best midfielders of J2. He is playing in J1 this season. I like Kaishu Sano too. He was also one of the best midfielders of J2 and he has moved to J1 club and is playing in J1 this season. The number of his ball recovery per 90 mins was the biggest in J2 last season (his ball recovery per game was 20 last season). He turned 22 a few months ago, still very young. I'm not surprised if an European club buys him in the near future or a Japanese national team manager is selecting him in the near future. I like his younger brother even more (currently playing in AFC U20 Asian Cup, but still too young to play in Europe)

    Speaking of Mitsuta,
he is versatile, so the manager is making him play as wing back this season. I think he is a bit unhappy for it because he is basically better when used closer to goal scoring positions (winger, attacking midfielder or false 9) than as wing back. If he is unhappy for his role, he might feel like moving to Europe sooner.

I liked the look of that young St. Mirren LB Thierry Small, on loan from Southampton. 18 year old and got the speed and strength to keep up with Maeda in the first half. I'm no fan of signing players based on seing them once, but I feel he's worth keeping an eye on throughout the season.

I was very surprised when they took him off as I felt he was one of their better performers.

He was very quick and strong that boy. Jota was making it easy for him though and he was still done a few times down his side. Did look a decent prospect though..

No seen this boy myself but 18 year old Zlin striker Radim Hamalcik must be some player for the future. Currently top scorer in the Czech youth league with 16 goals..

More impressive when you see his side are mid table in 8th and yet are still the top goalscorers in that league. Hamalcik has double the amount of goals than the top goalscorer of Sparta Prague who are top..

A region we should always be looking around..

Looks quality this boy. 16 year old left footed right winger. Unit already and almost Bale like..

Hjelde was younger when we nabbed him and Ajer a wee bit older. He's gone from Sandefjord in Norway to Nordsjaelland last summer. Be interesting to see where he goes..

Maybe someone we'll be looking at in the future..

Reda Slim, 23 year old Moroccan, right winger still playing in Morocco for current league leaders FAR Rabat. This season he has 5 goals and 8 assists in 17 games and has been putting up decent numbers for around 3 seasons now.

He is right footed but very capable of using his left also, isn’t the biggest at around 5’9 but has quite a solid build. He has good pace too which helps with his dribbling.

Technically he looks very sound, a good first touch, dribbling ability and has a good eye for a pass which he can use coming more centrally or from a wide position to link play.

He takes his teams set pieces and has good crossing ability and a decent strike from distance.

Off the ball he works hard to recover the ball quickly and has a decent success rate in doing this too. His pace also means he can then create good transition opportunities for his team.

He has been capped previously by Morocco.

He was flagged a few years back in a Total Football Analysis Piece- https://totalfootballanalysis.com/article/reda-slim-2020-21-scout-report-tactical-analysis-tactics. Although this is a few years out of date, it looks like he still plays the same way, just has more experience behind him.

He looks like someone worth a look and who has the potential to slot in well to an Ange team.

Just an observation.. but how are some happy for an obscure suggestion from Japan, but not a player who has performed very well within our own league?

We shouldnt be quick to turn our nose up at talent from our own league. Theres various examples of players who have been a big success and have been bought from the scottish market.
Mourinho built his Porto team from mainly players at smaller domestic clubs.

Think it was because Jose was surrounded by Portuguese players and we're surrounded by Scots.

    Just a thought.

    Few reasons.

We play every team in our league at least 3 times a season and can usually get an idea of which ones are actually any good. I think most Celtic fans are happy to sign players from within our own league if they're good enough - we've done it plenty of times before.

In terms of the Japan point. Japan have consistently had a good national team for years - miles better than the Scottish national team. They have a good track record of producing good, technical and hardworking players. It's a good market to shop in. Don't think anyone outside of us in the league has players anywhere near as good as Kyogo, Hatate, Maeda or Iwata.

Edit - Plus look at the fees we've paid for the Japanese players. Peanuts for the lot of them.
