Hatate is class, but he’s got a long, long way to go before he’s considered in the same bracket as McGregor.

That’s not even a criticism of him.

Aye I'd still consider McGregor our best midfielder. I'd say Hatate, at this best, can put in a better performance than McGregor, but McGregor is consistently brilliant, can't remember the last bad game he had.

Think you need to reign it in a bit mate, getting awfully defensive for some reason.

Hardly a criticism of Hatate to say that he's not at Callum McGregor's level, which he isn't.

    Why should the position matter?

It is going overboard. Again, why are the top teams in Europe not coming in for him if he’s levels above guys who we would all agree could get moves to major European leagues?

I love Hatate mate, but Cal's the best player at the club - and rightly so. He genuinely could play in any team in the world, and probably would do if he weren't Scottish.

It's an easy conversation to have saying e.g Larsson is better than Lustig.

So we agree Hatate could play in any league but that doesn't make McGregor better because he isn't playing for a Real or Man City etc? Have to say, that's a very weak argument there lad.

Bhoy is doing amazingly well and currently going up a level. Better than Cal? No for me but possible in time , Cal better than the maestro? pffft get serious. He isn't even the best we've got currently , for me it's CCV by a long way.

Aye mate. Callum is far and away my favourite player ever, The King aside. And without a doubt the best we’ve produced in decades.

EDIT: * knows where the cat emoji has came from:giggle1:

I don’t understand your point regarding Larsson and Lustig.

Saying McGregor is levels above CCV because the latter is a defender makes no sense.

No, my point is pretty straightforward. We all think Hatate, CCV, Jota etc could quite comfortably play at a higher level. Therefore, if McGregor is streets ahead of them, it’s surprising he isn’t being coveted by all the best teams around.

Then in that case why aren't Jota, CCV and Hatate all playing at a higher level NOW? It's widely recognized by even the majority of the players at the club that Calmac is the best player, best trainer, best leader at the club, so it's no surprise to find that viewpoint taken on by many of the Celtic support. Again, this isn't a slight on Hatate (who I think is excellent btw) but not yet on the level of Cal.

My earlier point about defenders v outfield players is that outfield players (by that I mean from the midfield onwards) are always looked at more favourably as opposed to defensive players and goalkeepers - one only needs to look at how many GK's and DEFs have won the Balon d'Or as an example.

Aye is all about opinions. Far and away for me plays to the highest level guys done against the likes of Madrid and Bayern Munich the same as he has against the likes of Aberdeen and Ross County, his movement and control over a game is incredible.

By this point the only central midfielder I’ve seen in the Hoops that is comparable is the guy who marked Zidane out of a CL final in Paul Lambert.
