You can have whatever opinion any time you want, I just think the judgments only carry so much weight until we've seen a bit more of him. That's not me passively having a go at anyone, I just think we need to see more of him.

 

No one has actually said anything negative about him.

Clearly folk are rushing out to big him up - on the back of absolutely nothing - so they can say ‘told you so’ when he gets a proper run out and impresses.

 

Joe Hart has been discussing his first impressions of new Celtic signing Hyeongyu Oh in a media conference today.

Oh signed for the Bhoys last month and has already made two appearances from the bench under Ange Postecoglou and is closing in on his first start.







Hart, one of the elder statesmen in the Celtic squad likes what he sees and was asked for his initial thoughts on the South Korean striker and what he could bring to the team


The goalkeeper said [Celtic YouTube]: “He’s young, really enthusiastic, powerful. He’s technically good.

“Speaking to the boys, obviously we’re as much fans as anyone else when you talk about a new signing. Sometimes you take your teammate hat off and discuss people. I know the boys have mentioned how sharp he is and how tough he is to keep a hold of.


We don’t get a huge opportunity to train too much at the moment with the game schedule, but I think he’s really going to bring something special to the club. Kyogo has been fantastic but with the number of games and opportunities he’ll get, I think big Oh will get to show his true colours and bring something to the table.”

 

They are rushing to big him up based on the fact that he wants to be here. Also based on what he's done before, he should have been playing at the world cup.

Also based on the little we have seen of him so far.
So perhaps the optimism is influenced by wishfull thinking, but it's not based on nothing

He's been in the door a week and you obviously skipped by big Joe talking about no training too much because of our schedule. Lol..

If not for such ridiculous over exaggerations, literally no one would be pointing out that he did nothing (again, no slight on him).

And if you genuinely think there’s been no training since January 25, then you’re even stupider than your use of ellipses suggest.

Nowhere did he mention match performances. Just that he thinks he’ll do well.

This another case of the usual cohort of angry forum members getting fuming over opinions that don’t actually exist.

I think five different people have now clarified that no one is doubting Oh’s ability, just that talk of him doing anything in his ten minute cameos are nonsense.

Gerry McCulloch’s email is available on the Celtic site. Perhaps you lot should also take your anger out on him, as the official Celtic match report (over 1,000 words long) also fails to mention Oh doing anything.

 

Another wee positive when the signs are already good. Always a good sign when your teammates rate you.

Well, this argument could immediately be put to bed by someone listing all the things that have impressed them in the 24 minutes of dead football he’s played.

@Notorious, you’re one who claimed he’s did this and that. We know you’re good with clips, how about posting them?

And, once again, I’m not saying Oh is a bad player - how could I? He’s only played 24 minutes of football. I’m merely disputing the hyperbole that he’s done anything of note in his fleeting appearances thus far.
