Might have missed something but Giakoumakis is technically still a Celtic player? Is that not right?

One of the strangest transfer sagas ever.

 

MLS transfer window only just opened, unless something weird were to happen you'd imagine it'll be made official at some point this week.

 

You would, but dumping him out of the squad isn't going to make a stronger negotiating position.

Hopefully it's all done and dusted and it's just visa paperwork or similar holding this up.

 

It could be a wee dig, but at the same time I'm not so sure because since then he said some nicer things about him.

I think he was just trying to make the point that as far as he is concerned Giakoumakis is gone and that's it. It's been sanctioned by him, replacement brought in and it's now been passed to Nicholson to get the best deal possible. Ange doesn't really care at this point and doesn't really need to be told when it's official.

 

Im the same. I don't think it was a dig at him. IMO it's just how Ange is, speaks as he sees it.

 

Watching GG's body language over a number of games this season, he annoyed the * out of me. Every single challenge lost, every chance missed, every pass mislaid, every cross that didn't get to him - he'd throw his arms up in exasperation; woe is me. Like a Ronaldo-lite.

Confusingly he would also put in a shift a lot of the time and there was even once where he started his shenanigans, realised the ball was still in play and sprinted to get on the end of the ball that came in afterwards. Personally, I get the feeling he was moping about too much and even if the agent * it for him, Ange is not fussed seeing the back of his 'poor me' attitude.

And yes - I know I know * all about anything. Just my take.

 

Watching the presser it didn't seem like a personal dig. Seemed more like one of Ange's wee quips, more just taking aim at the Instagram generation rather than Giako in particular.

He's gone. Will always love the big Greek for what he gave us last year but we move on.

 

The word 'Instagram' would never have left Ange's mouth in a press conference unless it was to make a point, vague as it may be.

It's a coincidence that GG and his missus have been posting suggestive pics on Instagram since the contract rumours have surfaced? Mon to *.

 

That’s exactly what I took out of it, just Ange being Ange and dropping a zinger. GG has left the country, that’s why he’s not on Ange’s radar, he’s not part of the Celtic match day squad and is about to sign for another club. This is what makes Ange so brilliant, he doesn’t get involved in distractions.

Claiming a rift from those comments is clutching at straws.

 

I dont think ange had a dif but I think Giakoumakis recent post shows he’s a bit of a diva guy got a new contract on The table but wanted more money and game time …. He wasn’t the best striker at the club

Came in and made a good contribution to us winning the league last season so I thank him for that. Also glad he's gone if he doesn't want to be here. Good luck to him.

 

Good “nuisance” type striker. Played a massive role in us winning the league last season and he’ll never be forgotten for that.

Although I did always like him as a player I’m not really disappointed to see him go. As a pure “footballer”, technically speaking, he lacks quite a bit. Touch can be way off the boil and at times he sticks out like a sore thumb in all the wrong ways. I’m glad we’re trying to upgrade on him.

See the comments Ange made when Oh signed and everyone thought they were aimed at Cho, I think they may have been directed at Giakoumakis.

At the end of the day fair enough to GG he played his part in winning the title last year but has allowed himself to be talked into the grass being greener elsewhere. It’s a bit of a shame that it sounds like it isn’t going to be such a pleasant exit as Juranovic.
