Was kinda hoping it would fall through at the last minute and Ange and Giako would make up.

American window is open to April. He didn’t need to go before our window closed but I think getting out now was a decision on both parties

Wee bit risky to sell him and rely on Oh at such a young age to be our main back up should Kyogo get injured. Still would have liked another striker if he goes.

 

Celtic have negotiated a host of add-ons in their agreement to sell Georgios Giakoumakis to Atlanta United, Inside Futbol understands.


Giakoumakis is set to end his association with Celtic to make the switch to the MLS, where he will look to get back into the groove of regular starts.



The Greece international fell out of favour at Celtic, but there was no shortage of sides willing to sign him and a scramble for his signature resulted in Atlanta United winning the race.




Celtic will pick up £3.3m from selling Giakoumakis to Atlanta United, but they have also successfully included a host of add-ons in the agreement.



There are a variety of add-ons which could see Celtic net extra cash, from Giakoumakis scoring 15 or more goals to him being named in the MLS Best XI.


The Scottish giants also have a sell-on clause in the agreement.



However, it will only apply if Giakoumakis moves to a non-MLS club and not within the MLS itself

 

Shame to see him go, but that's football. GG wanted the move, and at the age he is probably didn't want to be part of what we were doing here when he can be the main man. Thanks for the memories - and he takes a golden boot with him from last season also as well as the Eredivisie one - netted some important goals and some absolute crackers along the way. Also glad he got the move he wanted and more importantly on terms that are agreeable to Celtic, both in terms of the transfer fee as well as those additional add-ons etc.

I saw a documentary on the Laudrup brothers in Denmark about ten years ago. Turns out their dad Finn Laudrup (if memory serves me right) went to Italy back in the day. His wife hated Italy and basically said it's Italy or me, so he went back to Denmark and had a quiet career. It could well be a combination of coin, manager and family. Who knows.

Anyhoo..we move on.

 

Sad to see a bitter break-up. But I guess some things weren't meant to be.

Huge risk in my opinion. Hooe it doesn't bite us and the Korean turns out to be class.

 

I’d be a lot more concerned if it wasn’t Ange that’s clearly approved of this and is fine with it.

Any other time in our history I think I’d be * * it.

 

I do trust his judgement but from the outside looking in the whole situation is feeling off. We've just let go of Dutch top scorer and our league top scorer from last year for a relatively low fee it's wild.

 

Us getting the Dutch league top scorer for an even lower fee felt weird as well

My choice would be yer staying till summer at least and the contract he has, means that it wouldn’t make a difference price wise. His attitude on the pitch I think wouldn’t be different, so it’s an Ange call here I think, and I’ve learned he’s far better at football * than me by now.

One thing that it makes me think, is Oh will be thinking I’m just here, I’ve a lot to prove and this is how much I’m believed in. And his attitude seems like a guy who could thrive with that.

 

Yeah I was really hoping we'd keep him to the Summer help us tie up the league and push for the cups.

His song was a belter as well to add to the disappointment.
