If that's him rusty and not settled, it only means Ange has done it again.

 

It's also always different to come on when the team isn't actively pushing for a goal, rather than being the centerpiece of an ongoing effort to break a defense. It is a big test, but Oh will have to start a match sometime. But I like him- has Maeda's fearless attitude in pressing, and is hard to knock down.

Not judging him off that appearance but he does look good! Much quicker than GG as well.

 

They'll try to stifle his game by blowing for non existent fouls, or worse still, penalising him when he's the one that's being impeded. We saw that already near the end and we've seen it before with Giakoumakis.

Look at the way Rogic was manhandled in last year's semi v the Klan.

They get away with persistent fouling and yet our players are penalised constantly for fouls they didn't even comit.

I'm sure this 'style of refereeing' was one of the main reasons many of us were sceptical of VAR. These are more subtle decisions that don't get looked at but which have a serious impact on the outcome of the match.

He's certainly notified them of the transfer happening in advance. I assume he's said he expects no bickering over history or politics. It's what a well informed man would do in his position.

 

I think he would just ask them to help make a new signing feel welcome as best they can.

Pardon my ignorance but what's the beef between Japan and Korea?

 

Japan occupied Korea between 1910-1945.

 

Japan annexed Korea in 1910, suppressed Korean language and culture over the years, and as the bitterness of not being treated as equals by other colonial powers grew, what little was left of the samurai code of honor was torn to bits by cruel, ambitious army officers. Korean men had to serve Japanese expansion plans, while their women were abused sexually. It is a rotten period of Japanese history that hurts me- a person who genuinely likes Japanese people. Naturally, many Koreans are resentful.

 

You'd like to think things that happened generations ago wouldn't affect young guys who are teammates with shared objectives.

Been plenty of mixed nationalities in dressing rooms that might have political tensions based off their country's history and it's not even brought up let alone cause issues. Ange won't tolerate any kind of non-footballing distractions anyhow.
